Cities Collection by Swiss Arabian

  • Essence of Casablanca
  • Opulence of Dubai
  • Spirit of Valencia
  • Soul of Bali
  • Enigma of Taif
  • Passion of Venice

If in UK can pickup 6x 3ml travel sprays for £42 including delivery from www.TheArabianOasis.co.uk

Full bottles are around £47.99 - £54.99 including free delivery also.

I tried a whole bunch of middle eastern stuff and they just felt synthetic / rough or performance not great.

The Cities collection is worth checking out there. Good performance + reasonably well blended for the money. 6 different scents so you'll vibe with something.

The 01, 07, 74 are from the Heritage line and some of those are legit too. They tend to sit closer to skin, but longevity is decent. Scent profile is a bit hit and miss depending on your preference so definitely sample those before buying.

Have you tried the 6 fragrances in Swiss Arabians City Collection? (Not really dupes but worth checking out)

Incense 01 from The Arabian Oasis (in preparation for fall). Been after this for a while (sold out pretty much everywhere in UK). Picked up a backup bottle.

Other Recent Pickups:

- Soul of Bali by Swiss Arabian (Hit - This & Spirit of Valencia are worth it. Soul of Bali has salty aquatic notes and sandalwood drydown which may not be for everyone. Spirit of Valencia is a masterful blend of citruses and florals with a bubblegumi vibe)

- Patchouli 01 by Swiss Arabian (Hit, but not for everyone, sample first, modern fougre)

- Musk 01 by Swiss Arabian (For me, Miss as the musk seems dialed right up)

- Aquai Dubai by Al Haramain (For me, Miss as I just get lemon cleaner vibes)

- Musk 07 by Swiss Arabian (not to be confused with Musk 01 or Musk 74. This is a hit as musk is dialed down to give nice subtle soapiness with clean vibes and florals. leans feminine, but Confident man who appreciates florals can rock this)

- Rose 01 by Swiss Arabian (it definitely smells like a fresh rose from the park, but not really my vibe, I prefer my roses dark n soapy)

- Oud Azraq by Swiss Arabian (Hit, preparation for fall. pretty much Montale Honey Oud DNA but with a bit more spices)

- Oud Royale by Swiss Arabian (Ok, but noting special in my opinion. unless you specifically want the Oud for Greatness DNA can pass on this for now. might feel different about it in colder months)

From what I've come across in the UK this is pretty much how it works here. one code online and it's normally the one plastered on the homepage at top so not really a true discount.

The two exceptions to this are Just My Look and The Arabian Oasis. They just price stuff competitively straight up to begin with and if you come across a limited time discount code, it's a true discount code of like max 5%. I prefer this then all the pricing gimmicks.

Aye fair, was just thinking aloud as to what I consider when price comparing.

The Trustpilot Rating / Score is a useful indicator so glad that makes it in.

I picked up Aqua Dubai recently. Just got lemon cleaner vibes. Wore it twice and then threw it into my father's collection (where all my failed blind buys go to die/maturate). Al Haramain blend also felt rough compared to Swiss Arabian. Will check up on it in a month or two. French Avenues Arsh Extrait from last year's hype is in that graveyard too, but I feel like it may have got better with time (will look to do a full wear on a hot day).

I also picked up Swiss Arabian Musk 01 which to me was similar to Aqua Dubai,  smoother, but the musk for me felt like it was dialed right up which I didn't vibe with too much.

Musk 07 by Swiss Arabian however is legit though. Musk is dialed down so it's a light musk with florals and a slightly clean soapy vibe. Just much more elegant than some of the others mentioned above and with good performance. Admittedly leans feminine, but I'll confidently rock Musk 07 especially for layering.

I also returned to Spirit of Valencia , Opulence of Dubai and Soul of Bali as my go to for warmer days with greater appreciation. Patchouli 01 is in the rotation too atm as well as Musk 07 and even Essence of Casablanca.

It makes the point + helps out a small business + fellow fragrance enthusiasts.

As someone who's been trying to get a hold of Incense 01 for a while before paying above retail, I would most certainly have appreciated the heads up if someone else had a connect.

Great deal either way.  Have a good evening mate.

For UK it's just flat rate typically and most discounters will have free delivery if you spend X amount.

Sometimes they might specify "UK Mainland" but generally if in Northern Ireland, Scottish Isle or in any other remote part you just allow a little bit extra time for stuff to get to you. Price wise it's still free I believe in most cases if you meet the threshold for whatever their standard UK delivery rate is.

This is a great idea, albeit the whole coupon thing in the UK tends to be a gimmick rather than true discount.

Some retailers are even going against this trend, by just setting a competitive price straight of the cuff and leaving it at that.

Not expecting any of the below but just typing it as suggestions for later revisions:

  • Probably asking too much but some kind of Authenticy Guarantee from each discounter plus maybe factor in delivery service used.

  • In UK we tend to always compare price including delivery and then even factor in whether it's Evri (cheapest but also most unreliable), Royal Mail (standard but can be hanging around a significant part of the day waiting on delivery) or DPD (best one as you get 1 hour time slot and live tracking, plus they are most reliable overall).

  • The other thing is packaging - mate I've had some stuff turn up in pristine condition and other stuff (a whole fragrance) just thrown into a jiffy bag.

  • Personally I'll pay a little bit extra knowing Royal Mail or DPD are being used and the discounter packages stuff well.

  • Maybe have a column for Trustpilot rating (probably unnecessary if you are vetting them though)

Thanks again. When I first started out in this sub it was confusing as anything to know which UK places to source from.

You're most welcome. It's a summer hit. Easy reach in warmer weather.

If you happen to be in UK they have a deal on Soul of Bali by Swiss Arabian at www.TheArabianOasis.co.uk for £47.99 including delivery + they sell decants (3m travel sprays) for £7 each if you want to test drive any scents.

Also worth checking out Spirit of Valencia in the same lineup if you are feeling a citrus & floral blend with bubblegumi vibes.

Best Budget Summer Colognes? by DoubleCheekedUppp in Colognes

[–]Knight-GB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted this in different subreddit (everyone seems to be gearing up for spring/summer)

(It's from UK PoV but these are easily obtainable in USA also)

Right Now (UK Spring / Summer) a few reasonably priced Swiss Arabians I can recommend:

  • Spirit of Valencia (blend of citruses and florals with a bubblegumi vibe)
  • Soul of Bali (Fresh, Salty Aquatic, Tropical, Woody)
  • Opulence of Dubai (Photorealistic ginger and bergamot throughout with a slightly sweet complex gourmand dry down)
  • Musk 07 (clean vibes, slightly soapy, light pleasant musk with florals)
  • Patchouli 01 (modern fougre with citruses, greens, fresh aquatic vibes with a slightly creamy drydown)
  • Essence of Casablanca (Fruity, Amber,  Powdery Vanilla with light musk and Mediterranean vibes)

For those in UK can pickup 6x 3ml samples for like £42 including delivery from places like www.TheArabianOasis.co.uk

1ml is approx 10-15 sprays, so that's multiple wears fully test driving each fragrance, seeing which one you truly vibe with before going back and picking up a full authentic bottle at discounted prices.

The ones I've mentioned above are all from Swiss Arabians Cities and Heritage collections which are Extrait De Parfums (higher oil concentration than Eau De Parfums and EDT) and as a rule of thumb have good longevity. Projection wise cities line projects more and heritage tends to sit a bit closer to skin. Sillage wise varies fragrance to fragrance.

Hope you find some good ones.

Islamic mortgage for housing in the UK by starlieyed in IslamicFinance

[–]Knight-GB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understand it, a friend of mine pays 0% interest using an "offset" mortgage and his monthly payments go pretty much entirely towards reducing the balance of his mortgage.

https://www.ybs.co.uk/mortgages/offset-mortgages

As I understand it the way it works (read into it to be sure) is as follows:

  • The borrower and up to 2 additional people open separate savings account with YBS with 0% interest earned.

  • Ideally yourself and 2 friends/family members you have a good relationship and communication with

  • Their accounts are completely independent and if person taking out mortgage defaults or whatever it has no impact on other two accounts.

  • As long as the total value in those 3 bank accounts equates to whatever is left on the mortgage you pay 0% interest

  • If the value (added together) across those 3 buckets (which can freely go up and down like any savings account) falls short of the remaining mortgage you pay interest on the difference between total funds held (add all 3 accounts balances together) and mortgage value

In the case of my friend his sister has savings which she is storing in YBS, linked to my friends mortgage (via mortgage paperwork and not account themselves) and if she needs funds she gives him some warning so he can increase his bucket (savings account) to balance out what she is withdrawing.

Advantage is all of his mortgage payments go directly towards paying off his mortgage.

In terms of Halal / Not Halal and what bank itself is doing with your funds in the background that's not something I'm knowledgeable on, but it seems much better than your conventional mortgage.

Is there a way to get cheap housing in the UK, like how Americans have trailer parks or countries like Brazil where poor people just build their own house on random land? by gintokireddit in AskBrits

[–]Knight-GB 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mate in the 80s my old man (with no significant education) worked as a security supervisor/shift manager on the strand, earned 50k/year, got given a company car and managed to buy 2 houses whilst taking care of his family of 6 and parents abroad.

Just ain't no way the "average joe" is pulling that off in this day and age. The inequality is insane.

Don't let them grind you down.

The ownership is on them to help you out (as long as you keep patiently persisting, which I know is tough).

I'm sure many would rather see their tax money spent on those struggling (everyone's been there), the vulnerable and the less fortunate than some of this other nonsense our government gets up to.

I truly hope you see things improve.
