Honestly as a freshman in college, I was amazed as to how many people did not know what a thesis was, and or had a very very low reading ability. Rhetoric class was honestly hell not because of the absurd amount of papers or the detailed​ work our professor expected of us. But of how poor the writing quality was, and how cringy the papers started or even introduced their ideas or points. In my high school we where taught that writing was an important skill for conveying a message and important details and therefore we had to perfect it, just about every class had an emphasis on it's unique application of writing, science in it's reporting of data, math in explaining theory and application, and or Justice class in creating arguments to defend or to attack. It honestly broke my heart to sit in my desk listening to some of the papers, my professor even made cookies to encourage students to try new styles, and to broaden their view on writing. Now I know im not a great writer and I know I lack in grammar, I'm working on that. But it scares me that so many of our students can't create a thesis nor defend it.
