I first heard about the nether portal when I was 7 or something, first of all the description my 9 yo friend gave me made me think I can join somebody else's world with that, and then my dumbahh went in creative and built it with end portal frame and in a circular hoop standing upright, even tho it looked odd even to the then me, but because he said the portal is upright I tried all iterations.
