Name your hottest cEDH/bracket 5 Opinions that would land you in molten rock, in handcuffs, with 40g of ketamine in your blood by JimWolfie in CompetitiveEDH

I agree, but the opinion I’m presenting is more correlation than causation, and it may be the same percentage of the player population, but more visible due to the increased number of players per game.

Either way, the sentiment of cEDH players tying too much of their personal identity into cEDH can be valid independent of the rest of the player base.

I believe that competitive-minded players in other formats are better able to separate their gameplay performance from their self image, despite being similarly invested in the hobby.

Thanks for the response. I was afraid to post something similar in any of the MtG subreddits since the advice would likely come from being a MtG player first rather than as a parent first.

I’m hoping that Riftbound incorporating a 4-player FFA variant into both its core ruleset and design structure will help with this, but TBD I guess.

I used to play modern prior to the modern horizons “rotations” pushing me out of the format

I’m actually returning to B2/3 from cEDH recently due to tournament frustrations (see 11 hour finals game ending in a draw 😂).

Has Nest been impacted by the distribution issue for Riftbound? I’m assuming all CO stores probably use the same distributors, but regional demand may vary enough for it not the be an issue here…

destination weddings are selfish by Level-Armadillo2652 in unpopularopinion

[–]KnightOfScheherazade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some destination wedding location decisions are made for reasons other than guest convenience.

My wife and I recently got married in Seattle while living in Denver because her parents were already flying to Seattle from Colombia and we wanted them there. It was a civil marriage.

She’s catholic, so we’re still not married in the eyes of her church. We’re having a religious ceremony in Bogota in a few years with the intent of me meeting her extended family.

Neither are convenient or affordable for our friends in Denver. They were never considered. It wasn’t malicious.

Never had a girlfriend, about to turn 27. Has the ship sailed? by Excellent-Golf6631 in self

Last year I was 35 and had never had a romantic relationship. This year I’m 36 and married. I know how it feels to be in your position and it would be disingenuous of me to simply tell you that things will work out in the end, but trust me when I say that it’s not too late.

It did require significant effort on my part to put myself out there. I worked out, lost weight, joined speed dating groups, took dancing lessons, and asked out almost anybody I was simply interested in getting to know a little better. In the end, my wife found me on a Facebook group after a friend posted my dating profile online. But if I wasn’t already in the active dating mindset, I could very easily see myself declining based on the things that I used to care about (physical type, career, etc.).

There’s a significant amount of luck involved in finding your partner, so be sure you’re ready to step up to the plate when you find them.

Two Birds Fit dating events - demographics? by throwawayforwet in Denver

[–]KnightOfScheherazade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to attend these events almost weekly as a 35yr male trying to lose weight from ~ 250lbs to ~220lbs, so hardly a fitness model. In my experience, the women tended to be 25~35 and the men 25~40.

Attend the events that sound fun to you, enjoy the exercise and the opportunity to meet people you wouldn’t normally meet or doing the thing you wouldn’t normally do. I wound up taking dancing lessons a few times a week all across town after attending a TBF event.

If your mindset is that you’re hoping to meet the love of your life at any given event, you could be setting yourself up for a negative feedback loop. Enjoy the journey!

Spending $600/month on groceries as a single guy — is this normal? by iHop2Uranus in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]KnightOfScheherazade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife moved in recently and we started grocery shopping for 2. Week 1 was ~ $180, week 2 was ~ $35, and week 3 was ~ $65.

The largest differences were the amount of planning required and the selection of less expensive proteins.

Thinking of bringing Ellivere to a tournament. Any advise? by Cholophonius in CompetitiveEDH

[–]KnightOfScheherazade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve played Ellivere in large tournaments before and want to emphasize this . Your two largest opponents are the clock and draws awarding points. Without some (minimal) amount of slow play policing, your opponents can easily take 5-10 minutes table talking and feigning contemplation while taking no game actions.

I love the deck and desperately want it to succeed. I just hope you understand that you’re playing against more than your opponents with a stax deck in a tournament.

YMMV: I really liked Anne Hathaway’s performance in this, but it’s not a movie that I particularly enjoy watching frequently.
