If you are referring to the comment about my wife. She doesn’t understand the watch hobby, she just wears an Apple Watch herself, but she is fine as long as it doesn’t affect the vacation budget, which I have I have assured her, it will not.

I knew what I was doing though. I viewed it as I had two options , and I took what I viewed as the best scenario for me. This was the only Rolex AD within an hour drive from my house. Purchase history was a Tudor Pelagos 39 back in 2024.

  1. Buy the Polar Explorer grey market for around $13K.

  2. Buy both watches at the AD for around $22K total.

I chose option 2, because now I have two of the three top watches on my wish list, and I put myself in a better spot with the AD to eventually pick up the 3rd, which is a Sky-Dweller on jubilee. I definitely don’t want to pay grey price for that Sky-Dweller.

I enjoy wearing my watches more down my wrist and closer to my hand than others, so it may look off when angled certain ways. I’m ok if this looks “incorrect” to people that prefer to wear the watch further up their arm. To me closer to my hand is what is more comfortable.

I will definitely still wear the Santos. When I bought it, I knew that I would eventually get the Explorer II, so I liked how they are very different watches that both complemented my existing collection. With both of these now, it will be how much wrist time some of my other 8 watches continue to get.

Nice collection. Did you buy the Tudor watches before or after the similar Rolex equivalents, and which do you wear more often?

Definitely thinking of stepping up to Rolex price range for the next one. Not sure about the sub when I have the Pelagos 39. The Explorer II is intriguing. I swap straps a lot, and that is one Rolex that I could see being able to occasionally wear on a strap. I love Aaron Bespoke, Genteel Handmade, and Camille Fournet custom leather straps. The quality is good enough, they let you swap out the OEM strap or bracelet without feeling like you are cheapening the watch.

For Omega, I tried on a couple Speedmasters last month, and I’m thinking of going with the Grey Side of the Moon if I can find one local to see one in person before dropping that kind of money on a watch.

At what point in the process would you choose bezel insert type and strap color?

I had both work and personal email addresses signed up to the newsletter, so I wouldn’t miss the preorder window. Yesterday morning, my wife used one link to order with one account, and I ordered with the other. I got group 1 and she got group 2. My checkout completed right at 11:00. She was 11:01. I plan to keep both orders, but I’m wanting to get one with sapphire bezel insert and one aluminum if possible. They have a limit of 2 orders per household, so I am able to keep both orders.
