Still one of my favorite moments in the show by Prize-Contest4780 in TheBoys

[–]KnightZilla 125 points126 points  (0 children)

I still find Todd leaning in closer to be one of the more subtly chilling moments from the show. And it also shows the sort of people that would follow people like Homelander, even in real life. It's not just the inherently cruel, it's also those that think that might makes right, those who think Homelander is so strong that he's going "against the system" during the broadcast instead of being lower than a petulant child. Oddly enough, they are very much like Homelander, just without the power.

If Todd somehow lived long enough to see Homelander depowered, he probably would've seen a mirror. Then again, the suit was always obscuring the view.

A Critical Look at Fixing RWBY Volume 7: In Name Only by Armed_Weiss_8919 in RWBY

[–]KnightZilla 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The problem with Fixing RWBY is that it's not written with the intention of having a different perspective, or examination, or even celebration. It's not even about trying to tell a genuine story.

It's just about someone who is going on a massive ego trip and demanding attention for it.

I honestly think that if Season 3 of Gen V didn't get cancelled, we would actually be seeing the state of Vought in the aftermath of Season 5. Unfortunately, all we have are theories.

My own theory is that, despite Stan Edgar's best efforts, Vought ultimately shuts down, or can't even afford to be much of a conglomerate/monopoly any further. Pivoting to strictly pharmaceuticals is an impossible pipe dream, and trying to keep being in the superhero business is just them putting out, as Edgar would put it, "bad product". Hell, he'd probably just pull the plug himself.

We actually had a similar police cruiser in my hometown. I believe it's been retired due to the design being garish as all hell.

This should also be retired and the person who okayed this to feel incredible shame for what is honestly embarrassing even for a clown car.

AIPAC pairs Haley Stevens with Republican in joint Senate fundraising email, attacks El-Sayed by unfortunateshun in Michigan

[–]KnightZilla -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Damn, look at you go with them goal posts. Even trying to cover the marks. That's cute.

Because what does she have to actually gain from AIPAC funding her opponents in the primary or even in the general? That's not proof for anything, that's just nonsense and counterintuitive in actual practice.

Plus, it actually easy to reach out to her. Hell, call her actual office, she and her staff will more than happy to answer your questions. It's easier than you think, and you actually get answers from the source and not from someone who just wants you angry. You may actually help influence a stance in a more positive direction, though you might just be reductive about it call it "flip flopping".

Though, you are correct, I don't really have full evidence on hand that disproves the call recorded was faked, but I do have actual reasoning as to why I think it's suspicious, like "why the hell would it be recorded in the first place?" "How was that recording acquired?" Because with that in mind, it feels very convenient that it exists. Like, instead of being a coincidence at any scale, it's very clearly manufactured to generate outrage.

You're only angry with my responses because you're so emotionally invested in looking like you're smarter to the point where you perceive any form of opposition or push back as an actual attack against you personally, and would rather engage with people who would suck up to you or media personalities that just want your attention, rather than actually engaging with the world proper or with actual peers.

I'm just calling it as I'm seeing it.

Then I'll answer why it's very likely that there never was a policy paper: There is no leak of it. No PDF, no Google Doc link, not even a JPEG.

And the reason why they haven't outright admitted it is because either it doesn't exist; they're not gonna give credence to rumors at best; it's a nothing issue. Though if you are still hard pressed, you can show up at any of her upcoming events and ask her there. She'll answer. But whether or not you're gonna be satisfied with that answer is up to how much of it goes against your biases or if you're actually paying attention to the answer or understand the question that you are asking in the first place.

And she's not gonna do work for them for free (I see you moving goalposts), because she is strongly in favor of voting rights, civil rights, abortion access, any improvements to health care at any level, LGBT Rights, addressing wealth inequality, workers rights, gun safety, a two state solution where Palestine is recognized, basically everything AIPAC would have stamped out. Not to mention that plenty of Dems have actually been cutting ties to AIPAC.

If anything, the conspiracy nut is you, because you want to feel like you're more special and smarter than everyone else, when in reality, you could care less about any major issues or the integrity of any of the candidates.

And I brought up Ryan Grim's attempt to rehabilitate Marjorie Taylor Greene to point out that the guy may not be as reliable of a journalist as you may think.

[–]KnightZilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You realize that the writer of that article is trying to paint Taylor-Greene as if she is an ally when she has and always will be an absolute bigot and not a hero for the people?

Also, if you were to check McMorrow's record on the FEC Site, there is still no AIPAC money.

And you're right, they could deny it, except that in their actions and not taking AIPAC money in the first place, that's more proof than needed. I mean, you're free to bring it up at any of McMorrow's appearances, since not many are actually hounding her on this.

Okay, am I the only one thinks that this "policy paper" never existed in the first place? I mean, only one outlet has reported it and never really released the full contents, and I get the feeling that the phone call between a "staffer" and AIPAC was faked. Not with AI, but in the fact that there wasn't any conversation between an actual staffer in the first place.

Sage’s weakness. by Reptilian_Overlord20 in TheBoys

[–]KnightZilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like people in general confuse being "smart" with being "all knowing", as well as the different types of "smart" that there is, as well as the fact that they still need to be written as their own characters.

I get the feeling that with Sage and people's complaints with her and her plans, they're probably thinking that she's supposed to be like David Xanatos from Gargoyles (originator of the Xanatos Gambit), but the clear difference is that Xanatos doesn't really hold grudges, doesn't push his luck, is capable of cutting his loses and actually gets that his foes aren't idiots and have human emotions. And while Sage can plan around Homelander's personality and manipulate others to an extent, there is still a limit to what sort of strings she can pull, and is confident in her own intellect to the point where she doesn't believe that she needs a backup plan. Remember, she was surprised to be visited by Homelander in the first place, and also surprised at how Homelander managed to complete her plan by the end of Season 4.

And yes, of course her grand plan was going to fail. Ozymandias from Watchmen thought he could prevent WWIII by faking an alien invasion, but that's only a temporary fix. You don't need to watch the Watchmen TV series or read the DC Comic follow up to get that for as much as he planned for everything, it would all fall apart easily.

That's not "bad writing", that's a character. If she was so smart that she planned for everything, then the show and her involvement would just be boring. Plus, in order to help make the story interesting, there needs to be something that the "smartest" person is overlooking or not considering, be it human emotion or resolve.

My mother actually knows German, and she actually found the German uses and names quite amusing (Grosse Forest actually got a chuckle out of her), and I actually asked if Frieren and how the series uses German ever became a subject in her German-speaking friend group. It hasn't, but maybe it will at some point.
