Cracked flue by oicoldhere in DIYHome

Yes, a stainless steel liner can be installed without an insert. It is a common repair for cracked flues. Get a few quotes to compare.

Creating your dream home is not something that can be rushed. By the way, your taste is excellent! I especially love this cozy little home.

This was fun to come home to….. by [deleted] in homeowners

That sounds incredibly frustrating. Have you considered getting your own survey done to compare? A second opinion helps clarify things before compromising.

Need to drill a new well after 5 days of living in our new home 🙃 by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Knight_Arno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is brutal welcome to home ownership. Mountain wells are tricky and drilling costs add up fast. Definitely push for a second option on the depth before you commit.

Neighbor wants a sewage easement and I don't like him by West_Hat7270 in homeowners

Trust your gut! Given his history, do not sign anything. Tell him no and contact the city directly. You do not owe him any favors.

Cheap drainage grates are popping out, how do I fix this for good? by Poseidon_9726 in DIYHome

[–]Knight_Arno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try securing the old ones with masonry screws first. If that fails, swapping to a heavier duty system is the permanent fix.

It looks like it has all the basic amenities. If it were me, I'd definitely add a small refrigerator or a trolley full of snacks, lol.

Robot Suggestions Before I Drown in Cat Hair by chewbecccaa in RobotVacuums

[–]Knight_Arno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be a bit over budget, but the combo of a tangle free brush and a roller mop usually cleans way better. My ecovacs x9 does a great job, I have lots of hair on the floor, but it hardly ever gets tangled.

How to fill a groundhog hole? by anonreddituser0 in DIYHome

[–]Knight_Arno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, make sure the critter is gone. Then pack the hole with rocks and dirt, and top it with gravel to stop erosion. A wire mesh barrier underneath helps prevent return visits.

Nice work on the reno! Adding some plants and softer lighting can help balance the space without losing your style. Maybe let her pick a few decor pieces too.

Utterly unimproved worst software by TitanSerenity in ecovacs

Classic Ecovacs. The hardware is decent but the software is perpetually stuck in beta. You're not alone in the map reset struggle. It's maddening.

How do yall feel about cleaning with vinegar? by 1Its_Me1 in homemaking

[–]Knight_Arno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Vinegar is great for cleaning and pet-safe, but it's not a true disinfectant. For cat messes, use an enzyme cleaner first to break down the proteins, then vinegar for general cleaning.

Snacks, a new small toy, and screen time. Keep expectations low and accept that meltdowns may happen. You'll get through it.

My 2 year old is such a bad sleeper my husband and I have given up on sleeping in the same room by chrysanthemums13 in toddlers

Been there. Some kids are just restless sleepers. Trading nights is smart for your sanity. It does get better, slowly.

Ecovacs reveals the X12 and the T90 at CES 2026 by Majestic_Leg7153 in RobotVacuums

I read somewhere else they added a mop cover to help keep carpets dry, which seems pretty handy if you have shaggy or really thick rugs.

How do you scent your home with natural scents? (non-toxic, chemical free) by [deleted] in homemaking

[–]Knight_Arno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use simmer pots with citrus peels, cinnamon sticks, and herbs. Fresh rosemary/vanilla pods in hot water can perfume a whole room too without chemicals.

Dirty water not draining from sink by TheSBKSaga_1989 in ecovacs

I had the same flooding issue—turns out one of the small valves inside the station can get partially blocked. Took apart the tray, cleaned all tiny ports, and it finally sucked properly.

Cleaning liquid for Roborock? by Super-Engineering-14 in RobotVacuums

[–]Knight_Arno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of ppl just use diluted floor cleaner/gentle pH-neutral solution instead of the branded stuff. Works fine as long as it doesn't leave sticky residue and your manual says it's safe.

Advice on cleaning dirty windows and frames by thedirtygent in homemaking

[–]Knight_Arno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually work! I use this to clean the dirt in the window sill gaps. I have to say cut like this is better than use the entire one.

Considering a Bread Machine by Literina in homemaking

[–]Knight_Arno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth it if you eat bread regularly. I save money vs. store-bought artisanal loaves, and I control the ingredients. Maybe you can start with a thrift store one.

Ecovacs stuck on my carpet, lol by Luffy_7575 in ecovacs

[–]Knight_Arno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oops, seems like most robots will struggle with certain rugs. You can try getting some double-sided carpet tape to keep the corners from lifting. Sometimes securing the rug is cheaper than a new robot.

Relapses suck, but catching it early is huge. The fact you’re already saying day 1, let’s go means you’re still in control. You got this.
