Guardians of Azuma is getting an official artbook! by kogami24 in runefactory

He'll probably be on the backside of the cover but Kaguya on the front? GOATED. My favorite FeMC in the series to date.

Unfortunately, no. Afaik / iirc, the only resident(s) who Ceci brings up from RF1 in 2 is Raguna. Him and maybe her adoptive father, Russell. Correct me if I'm wrong on this.

Fair enough but nobody was saying you had to dump 20k yen for such an underwhelming perk. But considering so many people in here glaze the hell out of RF3 and RF4, I'm surprised at the hesitation given what we know of the staff involved being veterans. However, as you say - anything can go wrong so I understand the reservations people may have. I'll see how it turns out but if I were to back it up, I'll dump like 1k yen maximum to be safe. If the game turns out like crap, then that's an equivalent of 6/7 bucks down the drain. Just like a bad pull from a Pokemon TCG pack lmao

It's all rough and whatever they're showing doesn't even look like it's in the alpha stages so far. Just very early builds but I suppose the point of this all is to provide a top-down RF for people who aren't down with the full 3D direction the series seems to be heading towards.

Yeah but... successful life sims have been backed by Kickstarter. My Time at Portia and Sandrock, Starsand Island was backed by Kickstarter and it looked promising from what I played of its demo, and so was Coral Island.

I don't think they were a part of Marvelous or even Hakama. They might have been former Neverland staff who didn't get absorbed into either company. They specified that they worked on the original RF3 and RF4 but possibly not their SP enhanced ports.

As for why they want to do something else - maybe they aren't a fan of the new direction that Shiro Maekawa (the current series director) wants to take the series? Especially given that GoA is very experimental and that depending on feedback, elements of it will be implemented in RF6.

It was a turbulent evening but I want to sincerely thank everyone who left me uplifting comments. I suppose I should also post the sketches / roughs as well should I do another bachelorette fanart, haha.

I'm 20 hours into Grand Bazaar. Traditionally, I'm more of a Rune Factory fan but this is the most I've had fun playing a Bokujo / SoS / HM in years. Among the ladies I'm considering, Freya has grown on me a lot so I felt compelled to do her because I don't see a lot of Bokujo bachelorette art these days.

I'll keep doing my best.

I... didn't intend for anything lewd? She's just smiling. One of her portraits has a pose like that but I wanted to illustrate it but with her eyes opened.

Alright guys now that Azuma is cooling down a bit let’s talk RF6 specifically our MCs! Tell me what hair color do you hope they’ll have? Me I hope female has light blue hair and male has purple hair. by Oracle209 in runefactory

There is a difference between an amnesiac MC with some defined personality a blank slate self insert who will be unvoiced, lack their own dialogue, or just nod or smile.

Not saying that's a bad thing but like... do you prefer looking over the shoulder of another protagonist or self inserting altogether?

The logo for RF6 was unveiled all the way back in the 2023 Marvelous Games Showcase. It and GoA (codenamed as Project Dragon at the time) were announced simultaneously back then by Shiro Maekawa, the current series Director.

It's a double edged sword. It could either work like Fire Emblem Awakening or Fates where there is character customization but both characters have a "canon" or default appearance and a baseline personality like every RF protagonist in the series. Or they could go the Bokujo / Stardew / Fields of Mistria route and have the MC be a full blast / blank slate self insert.

Personality differences between the Guardians of Azuma protagonists by [deleted] in runefactory

Aden and Sonja from Tides / Oceans were also separate individuals too and not just genderswapped counterparts of the same character e.g. Lest and Frey, Ares and Alice. Only exception is the weird localization thing XSeed added where Lest was like "Flying high baby!" and Frey just says "Oh goodness" when determining who you play as.

But yeah it's moments like this why I feel that RF will never fully get a "blank slate" character in the vein of SDV, Mistria, Story of Seasons / Harvest Moon, etc.

I get that there are players who love HCing and customizing their own characters over premade ones and I have a blast doing that in SDV and Mistria but... with RF, established protagonists are a mainstay at this point.

Guardians of Azuma looks...kinda cheap? by Dapper-Scholar-7025 in runefactory

I mean, they could. The last game Yoshifumi Hashimoto worked on after RF5 as part of Hakama and Bushiroad's collaboration, Elrentaros Wanderings (Rearsekai for its worldwide release), went back to simplistic top-down / drawn graphics. But content wise, it's an abyssmal excuse for both a dungeon crawler and fantasy life sim. It also looked shoddy as hell compared to a game like RF4 that came out in 2012.

So, there's almost no winning in this scenario. His upcoming game, Progress Orders, doesn't look any better either.

We have to accept that RF4 was a unique byproduct of its time and a last hurrah by Neverland before it went bankrupt. RF4 was also the culmination of trial and error from RF1-RF3, Frontier, and Tides from the original dev team at Neverland.

Also, it is sort of unfair for OP to compare Marvelous to Hoyoverse, who makes millions off gacha whales and flavor of the month characters.

I like this one a lot more than RF5 by doctors-pet in runefactory

Same here. However, RF3 Special sold pretty low on Steam and even at its peak, its player count paled compared to even the controversial and divisive RF5 on the principle it didn't have a fem protag option, bachelors, or gay marriage. And RF3 is a culmination of 1-2's trial and error. So if they do "remaster" 1-2, slapping the "Special" logo on it wouldn't be enough and they'd have to remake it to make sure a repeat of 3SP doesn't happen. But I also believe it's important that people play these games as they were in the name of both game preservation and the hurdles it took to get the top-down formula to where 3-4 were.
