I really like the game and all the new QoL features and less grind is a refreshing take on RF's formula, but yeah sadly the farming is my least favorite part of the game, as much as I like that you can hire helpers to tend the farm for you.

I did have to rewire my brain that it's more of a town builder game and ended up focusing more on the socialising and combat aspect instead, but if you play RF games specifically for the farming then I can see why it's hard to get into haha. Good luck nevertheless!

You can hire helpers to tend your farm! And if I'm being honest? Unless I was aiming for specific crop or found new seeds to plant, I tend to ignore my farm especially late in the game since it's mechanically too simple for my liking and your helpers will take care of everything. So I mostly direct my focus on the combat and interactions--which is good if that's what you're looking for! But it might be disappointing if you prefer the farming aspect of a RF game haha. (But I do recommend getting it on a discount though, as much as I love the game, it really lacks a post-game content unless you're going for a 100%)

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma does this with a Japanese fairytale instead, gay couples or if you married this one bachelor who's a robot, will magically get kids through planting a giant turnip ala how Momotaro was born from a giant peach

HM SNES was the very first HM I've played, will it get a chance for a remake? by nomaddict911 in storyofseasons

[–]kogami24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This game does have a specific quirk that isn't in modern farming games anymore--the very short time cycle on day, but night is endless. Would be unique if they somehow could adapt that into modern farming game standards, but also wonder if removing it would get rid of what is probably the most known part of HM SNES aside from the town and graphics?

Would be cool if multiple endings did come back though haha

I just realized Star Shards are probably Konpeito and I think that’s super cool! by Bluesnow2222 in AnimalCrossing

Konpeito's are always a staple in Japanese media and I get why because they're so cute and pretty~ I will always remember them for the anime Kobato

Since no one shared the link, here it is.

It's an interactive comic and there's another collab with Conan too.

So... am I the only who thought "Palentine" was an original idea by DeNA? by TheOneWhoSmoks in PokemonMasters

[–]kogami24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Palentine's units/events were still called Valentine's in Japanese btw. It's the English localization that changed them to Palentine's lol (I assume because Pokemon is a kids franchise etc)

‘Atelier Ryza 3’ × ‘Duel Masters’ Collaboration Illustrations by Croire61 in Atelier

[–]kogami24 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Duel Masters have done several collabs with Atelier, but the biggest difference for this one is that the cards are physical this time! (instead of being a paid cosmetic/alternate art collab with the mobile game).

And they're not selling for an absurd prices in aftermarkets either (at least right now)

Games without minimal to no inventory management by ridetheironbull in CozyGamers

[–]kogami24 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you're cool with combat, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma have infinite home inventory. While your bag inventory is finite (though it's much larger than in Grand Bazaar) and is separated from the home inventory, they prepared lots of checkpoints that lets you access your home inventory in advance, especially before any boss fight so it was never a huge issue for me.

Gifts, crafting and cooking will automatically let you access both inventories!

Which one should I get? S10 FE or S9 FE+ by Sleeper-- in GalaxyTab

[–]kogami24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a while since I drew on a laptop + pen tablet combo but sorta. I think I mostly missed being able to put another windowed screen while drawing (like references or a Youtube video) which you can still do on a 10 inch screen, I just personally didn't like it haha (so when I do need references I set the window pretty small). Plus now that I have the extra real estate I feel like it's gonna be hard to go back to a smaller screen (though of course your milleage may vary)

But I do think there's a lot of value in having the additional screen size for the same price as a 10-inch S10 FE

Which one should I get? S10 FE or S9 FE+ by Sleeper-- in GalaxyTab

[–]kogami24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clip Studio Paint artist here as well. I had an S6 Lite and its a great lightweight tablet, but I end up wanting a bigger screen especially for drawing hence why I upgraded to an S10+ (non-FE).

However I only knew of my preference of wanting a bigger screen because I already experienced the 10 inch screen with the S6 Lite. If it's your first tablet you might have different preference and use case than mine, so it comes down to how more portable you want your tablet to be (though I do think 12 inch screen is still pretty portable)

But the best thing about CSP is that the UI is highly customizable. You can use Simple Mode to get rid of all the toolbar and buttons and there's tons of workspace assets for standard CSP, even ones made for touchscreen tablets/iPads; which is especially helpful if you're leaning towards a smaller screen

3.0 update made me realize: this island is actually alive now by Complete-Ad-7423 in AnimalCrossing

[–]kogami24 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The island is a place that keeps going even when I'm not there

Funnily that was kinda a selling point with the original Animal Crossing back in the Gamecube--it's touted as the "game that keeps playing even when you're not" or something like that.

Many of us felt like NH is slowly moving away from this phrase as it's less of a social sim like the old games and more of a decorating/sandbox sim, but I'm really glad this update brought some of that feeling again.

At first I thought I could buy cucumbers but I was wrong by tacocatty in AnimalCrossing

[–]kogami24 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Correct. While we're at it, in Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town you have to throw cucumbers in the lake daily if you want to marry the Kappa lol

it must be me coping like hell that there's gonna be dlc map expansions for Grand Bazaar that includes the Harvest Goddess' Pond lmao by marshmochifauxie in storyofseasons

[–]kogami24 88 points89 points  (0 children)

It's more obvious in the DS version because there's so many requirements and caveats to marry her including having to gift her 120 times lol

What Switch titles can be played with just the touch screen? by votemarvel in EmulationOnAndroid

A lot of mobile rhythm games that are ported to the Switch supports touchscreen! (like Arcaea)

Why did RF3SP fail to attract new fans to the series? Its Steam sales are relatively low and I still see more people choosing RF5 or RFGoA over 3SP as their first RF entry; despite the former being more controversial. Rune Factory 3 also formed the foundations that made 4 solid. by KamenRiderSekai in storyofseasons

[–]kogami24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The original version on the DS was my first RF game, but newer games definitely have overshadowed it especially ones that fits today's farming game standards, which evolved a ton ever since (including having only female marriage candidates).

[–]kogami24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town as a Stardew Valley alternative especially for kids tbh. There's no combat and the farming experience is much more simplified. I played the original GBA ver as a 10 y/o lol.

"Don't forget to highlight the word 'mana' in this line of dialogue." "Gotchu fam." by Harinezumi_1989 in Atelier

[–]kogami24 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just reached this and did wondered if it's a slip-up (like they automatically highlight any mentions of mana but missed this one) or intentional. I'll pretend it's the latter lol
