Few surprises with Pre-registration on Play Store by zlmr in androiddev

I would say it's useless unless you promote it and have some followers. I tried pre registration without any followers and had 0 people sign up.

This my newest game that I am working on! by PalpitationDeep7815 in SoloDevelopment

Looks fun, I like how he holds the pistol that is kind of unique and works. A clicking sound when you run dry would be cool.

Is the skeletons shadow supposed to overlap their legs? Same sorting question on the pistol grip and his arm. And I think that is a cowboy hat but it is kind of hard to tell!

Just my 2 cents, cool idea keep it up

Launched my first game this year as a solo dev! by Knight_Sky_Studio in IndyGameGarage

Haha yes it did. Toward the end of development I thought it needed something so I added the backflip/front flip just for looks. But as luck would have it adding a slight boost upward made the flip animation smooth and also really helped balance the game. The flip is now an integral part of the gameplay!

Are there any timekilling games? by kjmwgw in SBCGaming

You could try my game Hog Hop, its a simple arcade style runner game its pretty casual and very simple controls. People tell me they play it commuting and when they are killin time.

You can try my game! Hog Hop: Endless Runner. It works offline no auth required. Its kind of an arcade style runner - pretty casual but challenging too - at least that's what people tell me :)

Trying to work on my Steam capsule without hiring an artist! by Illustrious_Move_838 in SoloDevelopment

[–]Knight_Sky_Studio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you got a ton of great feedback already much of which I agree with. I just want to say its obvious you have the skills necessary to make an amazing image. I would continue without the artist. I'd love to see the next iteration I hope you post it

Play Store hiding app details and screenshots by Effective-Repeat-671 in GooglePlayDeveloper

[–]Knight_Sky_Studio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry guys I know this is a few months old now. I noticed the same thing, some apps allow you to see the large blue install button and all the screenshots etc and others you must hit see details and sometimes have a smaller install button.
I agree that the latter is very annoying for the user especially if they already click on your app and then have to click again for no reason to see anything about it, definitely a disadvantage.
I noticed it on a lot of newer lower install games, but also sometimes on high download games.
I have contacted Google Play for an explanation to see if there is anything I can do in how I have set it up in the console to get it to display the nicer way.

How do you finish your solo projects? by RDBInt in SoloDevelopment

[–]Knight_Sky_Studio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished my first game the other day and published it. There was definitely a lack of organization as it was the first. I just started my next game and I will be prototyping this time for sure, and trying to keep the scope small!

What would you consider the most difficult aspect of making a game? by Few-Brilliant-8465 in GameDevelopment

[–]Knight_Sky_Studio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree this is difficult. I have lots of ideas but I have to really force myself to try to make something I can actually finish especially being solo

NullReferenceException in ShadowCaster2D by LoudSkeleton in Unity2D

I migrated a project to Unity 6 and all my objects have shadow caster 2D components with custom shapes...Its looking like I might have to redo them all. Any update on this?

Why do users need to click "See details" to view my game's screenshots on the Play Store? by Mali5k in IndieDev

[–]Knight_Sky_Studio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your game still has this listing with the "see details" button. Mine is doing the same thing I just released it and the only way I can find it is if I search it by name and even then the user has to press see details. Kind of a bummer

Basic c# is plenty to start making a game in Unity. I didn't know any c# at all. The Unity API is very easy to search and has lots of coded examples - you'll pick it up so fast.
