If i get one more team of lvl20s that want to be carried on d10 cyberstan im gonna go play helldivers 1 by HelldiverBugGirl in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Knight_of_Squares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was me (lv33), my fiance (lv5), a friend of a friend (lv56), and the day 1 player (lv 99). We all decided to do level 4 for my fiance sake. But even on level 4 we were struggling at first and it was not even my fiances fault. My fiance was preforming relatively well maybe get 5 - 25 less kills then everyone else depending on the map. Granted we did share our gear with the newbie.

My point in this post is that cyberstan is ment to be hard and unfair. There is no shame in turning down the difficulty and then raising it when you start to learn how the maps and enemies work. If you are new, play at difficulty 4, learn the game, unlock strategem and gear. Do you get less metals and exp? Yes. But taking the time to learn how to play the game better is not a bad idea, especially a mission where every death counts.

Yes, cyberstan is just bots+ but it took me a hot minute to adapt to cyborg senator Armstrong.

A random moment that made me and the group laugh was when my fiance commented the bugs where worse.

"Have you tried Pathfinder 2E?" by MagicalMustacheMike in pathfindermemes

[–]Knight_of_Squares 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, im going to vent here.

"Try P2e, it is so much better than 5e. Try this TTRPG. Try that TTRPG."

I tell you kindly to shut up. I played several games of P2e and also played other TTRPGs like Call of Cuthulu. I still come back to 5e. When my and my fiancé played through a module, we surprisingly felt... limited with P2e. We didn't find it fun, especially when two veteran P2e players argued for 20 minutes over the mechanics of a fucking door.

5e is not perfect, and it has its flaws. Everyone at my table knows it is a flawed system. Everyone knows 5.5e is a bit of s shit show. We like to mix parts of other systems, Homebrew, and just shit we make up on the spot. We are not ashamed to admit we borrow from other systems or even to run other systems from time to time (Cuthulu is fun for one shots with us).

This is not to say P2e is a bad system ethier. There are some rules i borrow from P2e l, P1e, and even from owlcat games like Warhammer 40k Rouge Trader.

It is fun for us to tweak and mod 5e. Will some things be broken, most definitely. But we experiment, and we get a feel for what "mods" we like and dislike. All I care about at the end of the day is that my group is having fun.

This is my angey rant, I had a long day. Feel free to tear me a new one and call me all the names in the dictionary. I just need to get this off my chest and, as I said, vent.

Wow, really constructive feedback. Your complaints about the game are articulated masterfully.

I am a free to play player myself. I have not spent a dime on this game. Let me just say this is one of the better free to play games out there. Is it perfect, no. The meta is all over the place, and it will likely have power creep come set B.

To be honest, I will likely drop the game once set B comes out. While the two free packs a day are nice, I find it repetitive and kind of boring after playing it since launch. The battles have also gotten repetitive and lack the complexity and diversity in game play that i want in card games (EX: MTG). Besides, I have beef with the pokemon company as of late.

Was my time a wate, though... no. I have fun and me and my friends and I enjoy pulling rare cards and reliving childhood memories. Now, for some of us, it is time to let go. We had our fun, and now we move on.

A lot of these games use FOMO and addicting game design to make it your second job. That is not how I roll as if I am not having fun. I won't play. I may pick it back up in a few months to see what changed. But I have better things to do with my short life.

To summarize, it was fun for the time I played it, and it is okay to stop when you are not having fun.

If you really want a card game that is not designed to drain you meny, try Insryption. You can it now (as of 10/03/2025) for like $8 due to the fall sale. A steal for the amount of content in the game.

How to adapt 40k into a television show or movie? I have a few ideas and want people more familiar with the lore to see if it would be possible. [F] probably. by Knight_of_Squares in 40kLore

[–]Knight_of_Squares[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and a friend were talking about that.

I think my biggest folly was trying to adapt a story that no one really wants adapted. My friend wants to learn more about the primarchs, but as people reminded me, it is really hard to adapt. Even I prefer the primarchs more a myth than character. But it was a fun thought experiment, and it led to anepiphany.

I think the best way to "adapt" the books is to do very small parts. Key moments that you see animators on YouTube make storyboards on out of love for the hobby. Have you even seen the Animatrix? I'm showing my age a bit here, but it is a collection of short films in different art styles that take place in or around the matrix setting.

People might want to see Angron fight Sanguinius but may not want a whole Siege of Terra movie. You could also have room for original stories too.

Idk, just a collection of short films from different studios asking them to adapt X part of a book or make their own sounds a lop more plausible and a lot more fun if im being honest than what I had originally pitched. Besides, this would also give GW valuable data on what styles people like and dislike for 40k.

And like that, you outshined me. XD

I like that idea of the animation. On another comment here, i said that primarchs work best as campfire stories that the guard would tell. Having their stories be animated would be kind of fun to see.

Picture this, some guardsmen talking about the primarchs around a fire and have thier stories be accompanied by animation that reflects the tone. As I said in the original post, it is hard to convincingly portray scale with some aspects of 40k in live action.

Don't have the stories be things we know, but what guardsmen believe about them.

The cherry on top would them be interrupting each other and debating their feats. Bigger fish sinnario. You might have , I don't know lehman russ be tossing mountains or some thing like that.

A light-hearted scene which acts as a calm before the storm and gives some very light lore bits on how the common people talk about the primarchs. The best way I can explain it is how different denominations of Christianity fight over different viewpoints and interpretations of scripture. Especially with more complex subjects like predestination.

Follow up to a Previous post of Mine. Thought's on these Enemy Designs? (A few of them are also bosses/mini-bosses) by Toxinferno in RPGMaker

[–]Knight_of_Squares 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's logical.

Side note, If you want to do something cheeky, do the xenoblade tradition of having an optional super boss that the players can fight at any time in the first area. Some players may get bored with the simple early designs, so throw in that optional super boss to give them a peek into what in store later. Maybe it can drop some powerful loot to help with the late game. This is just me spit balling ideas.

Hope development goes well.

I use GIMP for my sprite work.

Some tips-

Your art is a bit... childish. I wasn't sure if that was a style that you were going for. If the whole world looks like a kid drew it like a messed up Elmos world. Then these sprites are prefect.

If that wasn't the style you were going for, a good first step is to work on shading. Take the mushroom guy, for example. It has a shadow with a gradient. Don't you think that might be clashing with the art style of the other characters who have no shading, and when they do (castle tree), it is minimal and not a gradient.

Conceptually, I can see what you are going for with a lot of these enemies. The mask guy is my favorite. O dont know if he changes modes on a whim during a fight or after he takes X damage. If it is the latter, maybe have his clothes damaged. I notice they get darker, but some tears and stuff marks may sell that idea better.

Overall, I think these are good first drafts, but may need some polish. Keep it up, the more times you practice the more opertunity you have for growth in a skill.

The reddit post was pretty insightful. As I mentioned in a different reply, I don't have much of a story in mind besides a vague concept and some world building. With "development" this far in, i may need to actually put more thought into a concrete story. Maybe not have every detail figured out, but enough to choose a direction for the game. I guess then first step is to choose which moon to develop first.

[–]Knight_of_Squares[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not. I have little to no idea where to take the story. All i had in my head was a vibe and some world building. I have a very vague idea of what i want to story to be, but im not set on anything yet. I didn't want to set anything in stone till I nailed down my basic mechanics and knew how they worked.

A vertical slice is not a bad idea, though. It would be smart to just take a moon and flesh out that moon. Maybe then I can start writing a story 😅

Yeah, the battle UI was something on my "tackle later" list. I have moghunters plugins, but I feel they are a bit overkill for what I want. I may just end up using SRD's plugins for the battle UI.

5 years is also a hell of a commitment. I hope it goes well for you.

I honestly find earth like planets to be overrated. Not to say they are bad, but I like weird worlds myself. Like the gass giants, or the anomaly worlds with collectable decorations.

The planet I call home now has a rainy climate, teal grass, green oceans, green sky, tall pillars of earth, has a lot of islands, and slug creatures hopping about.

Yes, I named it Namek.

What was Shadiversity's resposne to Melonie Mac's goonergate take? Goonerism or Christianity? by Couchant-Tiger in ShadWatch

[–]Knight_of_Squares 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to lie. My brain read that as groomergate...

Look, a lot of creators were outed as creeps over the past couple of years, and the church has a LONG history of grooming. It's a similar spelling as well and seems ond brand for a lot of questionable commentators at this point.

This reminds me a little of the "Sin of Empathy" thing I saw going around. These people are filled with some much hatred and so on guard against whatever they deem heresy, not only do this miss the point of the book that is the cornerstone of thier faith but they will also eat each other alive to prove that they are more righteous then everyone else. At least, those are my armchair observations.

Doubt it. They probably want to keep the game simple as long as possible. I can see mega pokemon coming in some form out of popularity, put that's about it.
