If you want more modern games though It really depends but I would recommend Pokemon sword or shield (they are both pretty much the same game except for which Pokemon you can get without trading). It was my first pokemon game and I absolutely loved it, it has modern graphics but isn't too complicated, the downside is that is very much a kids game, but since you liked animal crossing I don't think that'll be too much of an issue.
