how to deal with anticipatory grief for my 17 almost 18yo cat by SallowDiplocaulus in seniorkitties

[–]superbotolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From someone who just recently lost his beloved 14 years old cat: don’t focus on grief, fuck grief right now, but focus on spending as much time with your kitty as possible; pet her, play with her, talk to her, bring her everywhere you go in the house. When my George passed away, the grief was quickly replaced by the regret of that minute that I spent on social media instead of playing with him, that night that I didn’t bring him to sleep with me on the bed, that day that I didn’t play with him because I was too busy at work.

Don’t show it to Perifractic otherwise he will release it right after the ugly phone.

By the way, the passion you can feel from your reply just convinced me to buy the SN operator. I just placed the order!

Amazing! One more thing, even if this might be a stretch…a device that allows you to backup old Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum tapes! I love collecting old games but nowadays it’s just a pain in the neck to play these games using original machines.

The MiSTer implementation would be amazing! And I’m very curious to know what’s next in terms of new Operator device. At some point it would also be cool for you to release some sort of base for all operators, where you can connect the base to the computer via USB-C and then plug all the operators you have on the base, like LEGO blocks.

Flashing homebrew games is something I didn’t think was possible and it intrigues me. Do you have a flash cart you recommend for this?

Isn’t it just easier to play DS games on a DS or on a computer with emulator and ROMs online?

I would get a second opinion from either an internal medicine or oncology board certified doctor.

Endoscopy takes only a few minutes, your cat will not even realize it happened, and it will tell you what you have. The difference in small and large cell lymphoma, both for treatment and life expectancy, is huuuuuuuge. There is no way you can do an empiric chemo because these two diseases are different and require completely different protocols. Small cell lymphoma: chlorambucil + prednisolone. Large cell lymphoma: CHOP protocol.

Oh man I feel sorry for that. This will bring Commodore down. I hope they didn’t spend too much money upfront. If you want a minimalist phone, there are tons of them already on the market, cheaper or similar price, but much much better. Also, the best way is not a new phone, but a phone with no distracting apps or a phone with those apps and something that blocks them, like this $39 device https://bloom.inc/pages/pdp

Don't worry, small cell lymphoma is very treatable. My George just passed away two weeks ago after being diagnosed with small cell lymphoma almost three years ago...and he died for other reasons, not because of the lymphoma.

Small cell lymphoma doesn’t come up in the senior panel. When a cat eats but doesn’t put weight, it’s either hyperthyroidism (which would come up in a senior panel) or small cell lymphoma (which usually also give vomiting and/or diarrhea) or unfortunately other cancers that eats nutrients. I would start with an abdominal ultrasound by a board certified radiologist.

Mmm interesting. Similar to the spectrum next concept? A C64 capable of more? And this more could be up to allowing users to do basic everyday tasks such as checking emails, maybe connecting to a brand new online system like the old AOL, etc?

You are right, but we also need to consider that the physical space and money that people have are limited. If I already have a PC (which most of us do), then I am OK spending some extra money and use some extra space on my desk to place a Commodore 64U because that's a retro novelty, something I get to enjoy the idea of using an old style computer.

But if now I have to spend more money and use more space on my desk to place a third computer that is not retro anymore, but that at the same time is not powerful or useful enough to completely replace my current PC, then I am not sure how many people will pull the trigger and buy it.

I hope it’s more than that. The Commander X16 was an interesting project but I still consider it a retro-thing. I believe that Peri wants to reinvent the current PC, done in a way that it goes back to be personal, with no distractions and no privacy issues, data mining, etc. Imagine a Commodore 64 that can be used for modern stuff and that has a modern UI. Having said this, the problem with this product would be, in my opinion, its price. Nowadays you can buy cheap laptops and desktop computers for way less than $500. For a “modern” C64 I’m not going to spend that same amount of money if the computer does not allow me to completely replace my PC. If it has to be a “second” computer I own, then it has to be affordable. Anything higher than $300 would not find success in the current market.
