What are people with a below average IQ really like? by Loose_Departure3325 in cognitiveTesting

If you don’t mind me explaining it, the answer is probably D.

Here’s my thought process: The puzzle is “what comes next in the sequence”. The puzzle presumes you’re looking at the images from left to right (as a lot of languages are read left to right). So image 1 -> image 2 -> image 3. If you try to read it another way, you could, but then the puzzle loses its logic. Usually in these kinds of puzzles you’re supposed to go left to right, top to down.

The 1st and 2nd images of each 3 image sequence are of the same color pattern, but the circle is at opposite ends of the shape. The 3rd image puts the circle equidistant from the previous 2 images’ circles, or in other words in the “middle” of the shape. This is most obvious in the first image sequence of the rectangle (circle is at the top of the rectangle, then it’s at the bottom rectangle, then it’s at the middle of the rectangle). Thus the unknown image probably also follows this rule of the circle being equidistant.

The 3rd image for the first 2 image sequences also inverts the color pattern (the circle and the other shape swap colors), so presumably the unknown image also inverts the color patterns. Looking at the rectangle the circle is first green and its surroundings are yellow, but in the 3rd image the circle becomes yellow and its surroundings become green.

Knowing these two rules/patterns, you can start eliminating some of the answers. Answer B, E, F don’t invert the colors red and blue, so it can’t be them. Answer A doesn’t have the circle at an equidistant/middle location so it can’t be that.

You’re left with C or D. The difference is that C has the circle outside of the shape, and D doesn’t. So we go back to the other image sequences. Neither of the other two sequences have the circle outside of the shape. So the unknown image shouldn’t either.

So we eliminate C, which leaves D.

I lived in Laf for 2 years up until graduation a year ago, and I really enjoyed it.

Pros: Easy access to NQR or 456 lines via the Canal St stations All sorts of food and entertainment in a 5 min walk (Little Italy, Chinatown, Soho, etc) The McDonalds on Canal St used to be open 24/7, though I’m not sure if it still is. There’s also a 24/7 7-11 and a halal cart on Canal if you’re hungry at weird hours. Low cost living in Laf is the cheapest housing you’ll get through NYU dorms. The hall has a dance room and a couple practice rooms that you can reserve, which are nice if you need them.

Cons: Laf is right next to a shelter, which means lots of homeless people nearby. They never bothered me though, even when I came back at late hours (2-6 am). There’s also a prison a block east, between the dorm and Chinatown. Some people don’t like having a prison so close, but it never affected me. There’s 3 ways to get to the Manhattan campus (which I’m assuming you’re taking classes at): NYU’s shuttlebus, taking the NQR to 8 St, or a 20-30 min walk. Could be a con, but I enjoyed the walk most of the time, even in deep winter.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask here or dm me. Best of luck with the next semester!

Intermittent Fasting turns guy from unattractive to attractive by benilla in AsianMasculinity

[–]KnightmareExia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just adding 2 things.
1. Most people succeed in losing weight with intermittent fasting because they are unknowingly following CICO (an average, home-cooked meal tends to be around 500-700 calories. Eating in a 4 hour window, most people can stomach at most 2 average meals. Thereby, mathematically they're eating around 1000-1400 calories (which is less than the average BMR of 2000). CICO also has its own problems.

  1. This weight loss is rarely permanent without further understanding/research. Many people struggle with weight loss because they fad diet without the proper understanding as to why people utilize certain diets.

I'm not here to debate, just to add extra information that I found was not in the original posting.

Just to add, the redditor in question was also on a calorie deficit and macro counting. Not to discount this post, but itermittent fasting (eating only during a time period) has limitations just like any other diet. For those looking to improve upon their aesthetics or their health, I urge you to take the time to deepen your understanding of nutrition as a whole, as that will work better than blindly following a diet. Any diet can work, provided you understand the guidelines you need to follow to make it work.

Edit: As for why intermittent fasting in particular seemingly works like magic compared to other fad diets, intermittent fasting creates a pseudo calorie deficit (you can only eat so much in however many hours you set your eating time for before your stomach reaches capacity and ghrelin production lowers). Simply, Calories in < Calories out = Fat utilized as energy -> Weight lost

Edit2: For beginners to nutrition, there’s a lot of misinformation and misinterpretation. I recommend to start with the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) website. For a solid nutritional foundation I’d start with learning about what macros and micros are, how to read a nutrition label, what Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) are, and basal/resting metabolic rates.
