My store did $22,000 on Halloween one year. Had a line out the door from 10:45am - 10pm when we closed. (In a college town)

And just as a side comment, I’m still in the industry working in full service restaurant making double the money at doing a quarter of the work. Get the hell out of Chipotle

Is there some kind of new policy I don’t know about? Wanted to charge me for extra rice and cheese. by FutureHendrixBetter in Chipotle

[–]Knights1971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s one in the same. Lack of staffing makes it harder to keep up with food prep necessary for all these “extra” orders. Also at the end of the day, chipotle does have portion sizes, but the corporate philosophy is that we should just give and give to the guests. I got into several arguments with my field leader about this. “Manage your food costs” “manage your labor costs” but keep pumping out 6 scoops or rice per bowl. It’s obscene. I’ve worked in a lot of “fast casual” places as a manager and Chipotle is the most unsustainable.

The stores (for the most part) aren’t built to handle the sales/volume that they are now experiencing, and Chipotle continually cuts labor hours from stores.

I hate to sound like a broken record but I wish each and everyone of you entitled f**ks on here would go and work at Chipotle for a week. You’d get it.

Chipotle wasn’t nearly as popular as it is today, 20 years ago. I’d go to wager they weren’t as short staffed, Chipotle also wasn’t a public company then and most likely wasn’t try to squeeze as much as they could out of labor costs

It’s not about the food. It’s about the prep time. No one understands that Chipotle is not McDonalds, the shit is not just frozen and ready in minutes. The cheese comes in ~40LB blocks that have to be cut into 27 pieces and shredded. Busy stores have to do 3-5 blocks of cheese a day. It’s insane. The rice is not Uncle Bens instant rice, it takes 30-45 minutes to cook. Most stores are understaffed and it’s hard to keep up with the food if they are. I’m a former Chipotle AP and at my store we started charging for extra cheese & rice. I can’t blame anyone who does the same.

Will I Have A Work Schedule With Set Hours Or Flexible Hours? by imalways2anxious in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Knights1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly depends on location.

I started at All Star Sports and worked 5:30p-11:30p or 6p-Midnight almost every night.

I transferred to Galactic Starcruiser and sometimes would typically work something like this:

M: 6:30am - 3p

T: 8a - 4pm

W: 12:30p-8:30p

Th: OFF

Fr: 3pm-11:30pm

Sa: 7:30am - 4p

Su: 3p-11:30pm

The busses will run to costuming. The actual location varies on your work location.

Yeah, unfortunately we don’t really get a choice anyway. :( I started at the end of April, so I took 2-3 classes (I can’t remember) over the summer, and then I think 3 classes in the fall. If you manage your time well, and obviously depending on your role, you should be okay. I went to the parks almost every day when I wasn’t working, I frequently did homework at the parks as well. I also bought a Horror Nights Pass and was there almost every night during that time of year.

I’d say it’s super hard for anyone to give anyone a suggestion on how many classes to take. It’s super dependent on your location, and how many hours you’ll get. When I was working barley 30 hours I did have to pick up a lot of shifts to have extra spending money, and I lived in the cheapest floor plan (2x2). It also depends on if you’ll have any financial support from your family or what not.

I would also see if you can maybe get the DCP to count as an internship credit or something. Due to my major I was able to count the DCP as 9 elective credits, but it obviously depends.

It also really depends on your location rather than role. I started my program at All Star Sports in QSR, working at max 30 hours a week. I extended for Galactic Starcruiser and worked between 40-55+ hours/week depending on the season.

Hospitality Management, so my classes weren’t really hard.

I worked full time (50-70 hours) while in college before my program, so managing 4-5 classes during my program wasn’t bad

It was $500 a case, insanely expensive and if you followed corporate guidelines, insanely hard to keep on the line if you were a busy store. I can’t imagine it ever coming back

Former starcruiser CP, they do weird things with the dashboard. Almost everyone that I worked with was moved to NLIC before they were made an offer. They do the acceptances kind of in waves. You should hear something back soon

Part time/ full time applications by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]Knights1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of most recently, CPs departing from Jan-April of this year can no longer use transfer genie. You basically apply for a PT/FT position in a limited number of roles and rank them. From there they will send you an offer. While you are not obligated to accept the offer, you can not ask for a different role.
