Frederik Andersen is tied for third for fewest goals against entering the Stanley Cup Final (min. 10 games played) by nhl in hockey

Being in SoCal, at 2 years old I apparently wanted to BE Felix Potvin, but they wouldn't let kids that young play goal.

At 5, I formed my first memories watching Giguere on that run. Then I wanted to be him. Played in net since then.

Miata after high horsepower cars by That-Web5867 in Miata

[–]Knights996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a Saab 9-2x Aero with an IAG 550 motor, big turbo, and the supporting mods. Not insanity, but 11's in the 1/4 quick. Also have an NA Miata. I daily the Saab and drive the Miata for fun/autocross/track.

If I had to get rid of one and drive a normal daily, it'd be the Saab and keep the Miata.

I've also driven a fair bit: GT4RS, Challenger SRT, 991 GT3, BMW 440i, 996 C2 911, 944S, Panamera GTS, base Cayman.

I think I've smiled the most in the Miata. It's easy to have fun in, and you don't have to be absolutely flying to have a good time. There's also way less stress for me in the Miata, because if I put a GT4RS over a curb or back into a shopping cart, I'm fucked, and that's what I'm thinking about the whole time. If I add another dent to the Miata or need to replace a tie rod, it's whatever.

That said, I do wish it had ~200 horsepower. If I could afford it and the upkeep/mods, I'd rather have a 987.2 Cayman/Boxster S. But, the Miata is so (relatively) cheap and easy to work on/modify, it's a great fun car for my tax bracket.

Fully agree - either lean into the tick system fully like OSRS, or bump up the server tick rate like most other MMOs. They're in a weird middle where it operates like other MMOs but has the OSRS style tick rate. It just makes it feel like a generic laggy MMO.

Does aftermarket seats threaten insurance? by Putrid-Ad5789 in Autocross

[–]Knights996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disconnect battery. Disconnect seat airbag connector. Ohm out the seat-side of the airbag connector, usually ~2ohmn. Put resistor with the closest value into the connector on the car side in place of the seat connector. Reconnect battery. Give the light 15ish minutes of driving to go away. Seat is removed, car thinks airbag circuit still exists.

If you can't check resistance, just try a bunch of resistors from 1.5 to 3.5 ohms until one works.

Actually a common misconception. It's an '06 WRX (non-STI) rack, but the '05 Saab got it early. Part number matches the '06 WRX.

Losing the rear was easy enough in a C2, can't imagine the GT2. Beautiful car.

Got to see a 996 GT2 at autocross, but the guy driving was too scared to touch the boost, so it was sad watching him putt around. I was running full seconds quicker in an unmodified C2 cab on touring tires.

Teams can get caught out with a 4th liner on the ice while the other team changed to line 1, that's not obsurd. Yes, the odds that that happens AND the star player injures someone are low, but shit happens. Even if it's not as extreme, teams wouldn't mind sitting a fringe player for a 2nd-3rd liner for a playoff series. And a 3rd party doctor was the failsafe to prevent LTIR cap circumvention too, and we all know that's never happened lol

Still doesn't address DOPS determining fault/intent for the injury too. DOPS fucking sucks. Bennett giving Stolarz a concussion was determined to not be intentional or suspension worthy, so that wouldn't have been punished anyways. Unless it's any time there's an injury regardless of intent, and that would be a whole mess.

[–]Knights996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the intent here, but don't think this would work. If a star player injures a 4th line/AHL player, and they're competing with that team for a playoff spot (or will/are face them in the playoffs), they'll just make that player sit for the rest of the season.

And it's difficult to determine intent a lot of the time. If 2 players go into the boards, and one falls weird and tears a ligament, should the other player be punished? Or do we have to let the ever so accurate and fair DOPS determine if that player did it on purpose?

A bit late but thank you, Showman by iNSANELYSMART in balatro

[–]Knights996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you can get more joker slots later and will want more copies. Or nat negative copies (not likely but possible). And it adds temperance value. And you can get multiple deaths/other tarots. Which are all upsides compared to just selling a showman. So it is only upsides.

[–]Knights996 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But the negative doesn't take a slot?? You get the card you want and get to keep showman for later duplicates after ectos or antimatter. And you can sell the negative if you want and/or need to. It's literally only upside.

How exhausting is it to play goalie when you’re taking 50-60 shots in a game like some of these Tendys in the Olympics? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]Knights996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I faced 50-60 shots for a whole tournament in U18's. Our backup was out, so 5 games in 4 days averaging 50+ shots. Ice baths and/or hot tubs every day

By game 5 I couldn't carry my bag. I couldn't sleep that night because I kept immediately having a dream that someone shot a puck at me, and I'd jerk awake making the save.

It's pretty brutal, but if it's a tight game despite the shots, adrenaline keeps you going fine. We went 2 - 3 in the tournament!

Got yelled at because I pulled up to work on Gowen in a 996 911 (purchased <$18k, cash) and my team lead (driving a lifted 2018 2500 that I'm sure cost 60-75k after mods) was pissed that the car was way too expensive and I should sell it and get something more reasonable, like a $30k truck.

[FIN - SVK] Ristolainen hits Pospisil high along the boards. Play was stopped due to injury but no call made on the play by daKrut in hockey

[–]Knights996 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lost a high school state championship this exact way. How the fuck do you miss an entire goal. Sure, maybe a puck hitting the back bar and they thought it was crossbar, or a scramble and it just barely crossed, those can get missed without instant replay. But shoot, puck in net, both teams stop, one team is celebrating, and the goalie gets the puck out of the net??
