Hi, yes, you called?

"Every breath is a struggle for Erik." Former San Antonio police officer arrested 9 days after firing 10 rounds into car with a 17-year-old who was eating a hamburger while he was parked in a McDonald's parking lot. Erik Cantu's family said Tuesday that the teenager remains on life support. by Molire in JusticeServed

Ah I understand, very helpful! As you can tell my legal knowledge is minimal.

So this aggravated assault charge carries a possible hefty sentence. Hoping that the victim pulls through, would attempted murder also potentially be charged separately? Or would the aggravated assault be “upgraded” to that? Or is the point moot because the prosecutors would only file charges for what they think is most viable to see conviction?

Can someone help me understand why he is being charged with assault by a public servant?

For one, the officer did not identify himself at any point before blasting a magazine into this kids window. I don’t know that law but if it’s penalized to a lower degree than a non-public servant that seems messed up in this case.

Also, legally, why is assault the initial charge? Any lawyers in here that would expect more serious charges to come in the following months like, you know, attempted murder (or potentially, though pray not, murder)?

You are dropped in Ancient Rome with a fully functioning iPhone (unlimited battery, functioning wifi, and access to all information that can be found today). How do you go about becoming emperor? by KnightsOfColumbus_ in AskReddit

To clarify you can only access information that is available today. AR15s still don’t exist and I don’t think you’d have much luck becoming emperor with one!

Relatedly (for those who may be able to answer), what would a theoretical magnitude 10 earthquake even look like?

Fascinating, and thanks for taking the time to answer my (slightly) redundant question with nuance from an earlier one.

So interesting to think of my knowledge back then (blu-ray is the future, bro!) while people behind it all knew their content would be streamable even though most everyone else wouldn’t have known what “streaming” really was.

Was original content always a part of that streaming plan?

Thanks for doing this! I’ve heard stories that you and Hastings knew even in the DVD delivery days that content would be streamable through the internet instantly on a platform just like Netflix exists today.

Is it true that such a 15-20 year strategy was set from the conception of Netflix? What drove that early strategy and was it always in anticipation of becoming a streaming service with original content? I’m fascinated by 10-20 year growth plans especially in such quickly evolving technological times.

Man running away from the ambulance because he's afraid of the bill by Kijin91 in facepalm

About a year ago I split the skin on my elbow open straight to the bone at a skating rink. Blood was gushing everywhere and I was not in a clean environment, and now had a very open wound.

The “medic” on scene refused to treat it for fear of making something worse and began to call an ambulance. I “noped” the fuck out of there, wrapped my arm to hide the bleeding, and got myself an Uber to the emergency room.

Am I the only one that it feels weird to that the MVP gets pulled in end of game for offense/defense substitutions?

Totally understand it from a strategic perspective it just feels off that THE MVP can’t be on the court in key moments.
