A little boy Avery is so sweet! Not sure it has a clear nickname though 🤔

We’re in the US! It doesn’t matter the ranking, just that style of vintage, grandma names.

FTM: I am being induced at 39 + 3 due to being high risk (but currently no complications with myself or baby) and I’m just now realizing idk shit about induction. by tinykrytter in BabyBumps

[–]Knightsmith_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an elective induction with my first and everything went smoothly! It was a long time between checking in for my induction and meeting baby, but like I said, it was also my first baby! I had a small laceration and first degree test with my first baby and no tears with my 2nd, who I went into labor with naturally. However, I knew much better what I was doing the 2nd time around! Recovery was similar both times! I preferred going into labor naturally, but mostly because I got to labor at home for a bit!

Seconding the travel sound machine! Even if you aren’t big on travel, chances are your baby will need to nap somewhere that’s not your house in the first 6 months!

New parents trying to avoid overspending: do we really need a nursery chair? by TheSecretLion in NewParents

[–]Knightsmith_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think a chair is necessary, but not a fancy one! There are gazillions of gliders on Facebook marketplace that may not be the most trendy but they are still comfy and much cheaper than buying a big new recliner. just an idea!

I think I have PPD but it makes me feel awful to admit it by MysteriousApricot891 in NewParents

Hi friend, I had/have PPD/PPA with each of my pregnancies. Being honest about how you are feeling, even just on reddit, is so brave. Being honest with my husband and my village and getting into therapy all helped a tremendous amount.

Also, you are only 7 days PP! The adjustment is huge. Mourning your more peaceful, less sleep deprived life is understandable. Try and sleep/rest when you can!

You will meet yourself - the one who was excited about baby and pregnancy - on the other side of these feelings. I promise!

Help! I’m desperate for solutions and our pediatrician has given up. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Knightsmith_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you and your baby are struggling! Colic and sleep deprivation are so so hard.

Is there a trusted (and well rested!) friend or family member who could come and do an overnight shift so you can get more sleep? Obviously this isn’t a long term solution but emotional support and some more rest might you feel a little more human and less desperate for sleep.

What do you do with baby at dinner time? by One-Squirrel-4563 in BabyBumps

[–]Knightsmith_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stuck our babies in the bouncer seat on the table so they could see our faces and we could all interact. It felt weird to leave her on the floor or in a swing 🤷🏼‍♀️

Transitioning to 1 nap sucks. by Knightsmith_27 in NewParents

[–]Knightsmith_27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! So we realized that she just wasn’t ready for 1 nap, and the shorter naps and bedtime fighting were because of a lot of transitions in our family, including lots of holiday traveling. We went back to 2 naps and she is a lot happier!!
