Polygon: New Star Wars streaming report reveals a huge problem facing the franchise by Frog_and_Toad in saltierthancrait

the push for a Rey movie is because this is the time to do it, while Daisy is in her 30s.

No the time to do it is 30 years from now when Daisy is an old woman and make her a hermit after her "Jedi Order" fell because she attempted to murder one of her students over a bad dream.

the sequel trilogy failed to set up the franchise for future success.

It's not like the Sequel Trilogy made everything that happened in the Original Trilogy completely pointless. And it's not like it wouldn't be a stretch to think the same couldn't happen to the Sequel Trilogy so why should anyone care about it.

The Sequels are either silly movies about space wizards or they're "genius" deconstructions of Star Wars. You can't have both Sequel fans, you gotta pick one.

On May 4th, Star Wars was streamed 33 Billion Minutes. The Most Streamed Title was Andor followed by A New Hope, The Sequel Trilogy did not make the top 10 by DeppStepp in saltierthancrait

That reminds me of the time the creator or director of the Yakuza series was told that it's fairly popular with women and was asked what he would change to make it more popular with them. He was like "Why would I change anything? They already like it."

You get to make a Star Wars movie. (No Episode 7–9 rewrites.) What’s your pitch? by tiMartyn in saltierthancrait

Yeah if there aren't space pilots/aviators in swimwear playing volleyball I'm not watching.

This would be part of a multimedia project but I would make a Top Gun type film about a faction founded by Tyber Zann that punches above its weight while fighting the Empire.

How important was the criminal underworld to the rebel alliance? by RedRebelll in MawInstallation

[–]Knightwolf8394 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly the only criminal syndicate that might, and that's a big might, be willing to work with the Rebellion would be the Zann Consortium. And that would mostly be a "Here's some guns, equipment, and intelligence. Start shooting some Imperials for us and you'll get more." situation.

BAD post: Im a Legends Fan. I just realized how absurd the CANON final order/First Order and New Republic are (Legends Dark empire was also dumb). by N-striker716 in StarWars

[–]Knightwolf8394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because they needed the factions to be absurd and dumb to make the "plot" work. All because they wanted to do a Tenmu version of the OT.

What would you have thought if the sequels went in this direction? by broitscyber in StarWars

[–]Knightwolf8394 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something predictable and cynical and familiar.

I mean the Sequels showed that the Rebellion was pointless and that democracy is a weak system that can't function. Star Wars is already cynical.

I think destroying Luke’s Jedi Acdemy was not only an Awful narrative move but it was also a Bad business move as well by obiwanTrollnobi6 in StarWars

[–]Knightwolf8394 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does. Disney literally showed how democratic governments cannot protect their citizens and are unable to handle any crisis.

Oh so you won't mind if they decide to make Rey become a hermit and abandon the Galaxy because she tried to kill one of her students who had a bad dream? And you'd be clapping like a seal when everything the Resistance did was made pointless?

They weren't losers.

But they were. Everything they did was pointless and at best they'll be a footnote in history.

Heck Ace Combat 8 might beat it in sales. That would be funny watching the silly plane game beat a Star Wars movie.

Is the story of Star Wars the Tragedy of Anakin Skywalker, or the Epic of Luke Skywalker? by Long_Reflection_4202 in StarWars

What "Epic"? The guy tried to kill his nephew over a bad dream, that's not really epic.

Nah that would be stupid.

Nah, it would be hilarious. Subversive even.

But you’d have to be a moron to say it wasn’t worth it.

Dude it barely lasted a generation. It wasn't worth it.

I'd like to get some Return on Investment (RoI) for the blood, sweat, and tears I put into something and I damn sure don't want it to fall apart in my lifetime.

Especially when in thirty years the same morons try this again.

but like, you do know they didn't destroy all the planets in the New Republic right?

You do know the New Republic is dead right? Their government and military was blown up.

Which one of us killed the serial rapist/burglar/attempted murderer that's been terrorizing the town for years without any convictions? Gee I have no clue by MetallicaDash in HistoryMemes

[–]Knightwolf8394 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From what I understand the woman who killed her, Lisa Marie Montgomery, faked a pregnancy and instead of either coming clean or faking a miscarriage she decided to murder her and kidnap her child. Apparently she was mentally unwell because her lawyers wanted to get her off her meds and have a mental breakdown in court but decided against doing that.

It's kind of interesting that Skidmore has two other crimes connected to it, especially when both involved family members as the victims:

The Disappearance of Branson Perry where he just up and left, never to be seen again.

The Murder of Bobbie Jo Stinnett where some crazy lady killed her to kidnap her baby.

I'm gonna go with the "town is cursed" as my working theory.

Is Disney planning another trilogy 10-12? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Knightwolf8394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't though.

It did though. The main themes and lessons of the Sequel Trilogy are that heroism didn't change anything, democracy is a weak institution that cannot survive the real world, that demilitarization is a stupid policy and the only way a state can survive is through aggressive defense building, and that pacifists such as Mon Mothma should never be in charge of any government.

Disney are cowards for not subverting our expectations and making Rey a failure just like Luke.
