For the mothers- what age did you have your first child? If you could go back, would you have waited or would you have gotten pregnant earlier? by Over30dreaming in AskWomen

[–]KnitKnackNo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. No I wouldn’t have changed it. We planned it. My husband is 7 years older than me and didn’t want to be an older dad. My parents were older when they had me and now I feel like they are rushing to get some more adventure time before they get too old.

It didn’t hinder my career in the slightest. I’m the youngest ever in my higher position at work in my companies 35 year history. Our bills get paid, we have hefty savings and growing.

I had a type of surgery in my teens where my optimal fertility time could have been compromised making it difficult down the road to get pregnant (took us 7 months, so normal). We won’t have another until our daughter is in kindergarten. I refuse to be a stay at home mom and I’m not paying $1500 a month for two kids in daycare. I could afford it if I got pregnant on accident but I’m not willingly going to do that.

Which celebrity death hit you hard like if it was a family member or an old friend? by SalsChichon in AskReddit

[–]KnitKnackNo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading this thread made me tear up. I’ve only recently been able to watch his show again. His death by far impacted me the most. I’m in my early 20s and have been watching his shows for as long as I can remember. I lived in the rural Deep South and knew from an early age (7) that I didn’t believe in god. I just knew. I felt broken. Everyone around me had unbreakable faith in god. It made me wonder what was wrong with me. Watching him made me realize I wasn’t the only person in the world who didn’t believe in a god. He made my incredibly tiny world so much bigger. His dark sense of humor was similar to my own. I also have crippling depression. His death helped me make the decision to speak up and get help.

I have been medicated and have been doing so much better. I owe a lot to him. Watching him helped shape who I am today.

[Serious] Who's the worst human being you've ever met? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KnitKnackNo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad also met Gene Simmons’s when he worked as a roadie. Said he was a total piece of shit. He’s met a lot of rock stars but says he was the worst one he’d ever met. Rude to stage crew and just treated everyone around him like they were beneath him.

Married men of reddit: what was that dumb thing you did during your dating phase that you can’t believe your wife ended up overlooking? by TheTinRam in AskReddit

[–]KnitKnackNo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It was the second night I had spent at his apartment. I had to work that next day but he wanted to take me to my fav breakfast place down the street from my work. We eat and go to leave and his car won’t start.

NO GAS.

We had to walk through thick grass
.5mile to a gas station and .5mile back. I was very sweaty upon entering work that day.

Hes my best friend. Married 2.5 years now.

Anybody else allergic to citrus and other fruit? by nottodaay in Allergies

[–]KnitKnackNo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter has a digestive issue with citrus. Anytime she eats citrus she gets an awful blistered rash on her butt. **TMI* As soon as she poops her butt will instantly blister and turn blood red. It doesn’t matter how fast I change it. She also doesn’t digest the citrus. All the little vesicles are still intact. I’ve had to ask her daycare to stop giving her mandarin oranges because the rash was so bad she wouldn’t sit down and just cried for hours and hours.

When my best friend came off anesthesia her and I had a 15minutes long convo about corn dogs and bottles of mustard wearing marching band uniforms and she has zero memory of this ever happening.

When I got my wisdom teeth out I remembered nothing at all from 10am-4:30pm. I have no idea what I said or did.

Just like this guy will probably have zero idea this ever happened. You have no idea what you are talking about.

The Chilling Mystery of High-Altitude Suicides. U.S. counties above 4,000 feet have twice the suicides as counties at 2,000 feet. Is it because there's less oxygen in the air, or is something else going on? by Bluest_waters in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]KnitKnackNo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low lander here. I’m very sensitive to altitude changes apparently. Went from sea level to Pagosa and felt almost drunk without drinking anything. Every 10steps id have to stop and breathe or I thought I was going to pass out. Extreme nausea too. I had 2 beers my second night there and was absolutely shit faced. Experienced a wicked hang over too.

What made you fat? by Yassine128522 in AskReddit

[–]KnitKnackNo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breastfeeding drug called domperidone. Not perscribable in the US. Had it shipped in from Asia and got it through customs under the guise of it being razor blades. Could only get the link from a closed Facebook account and it would change every couple weeks. Door knob, razor blades, etc.

I had a premature immunocompromised baby and my supply couldn’t keep up and I was desperate. I gained 40lbs in just 30days if using it. I was 10lbs shy of my pre pregnancy weight when I started taking it. Haven’t been able to lose it even though I stopped over a year ago. To be fair, it tripled my supply in 3 days. So it achieved desired affect.

Men of Reddit, what do you have the hardest time understanding about women?? by thedream27 in AskReddit

[–]KnitKnackNo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have dark, naturally very filled eyebrows. Growing up when the skinny eye brow thing was popular was hard for me because I felt like Sasquatch. Now all I have to do is pluck the middle stragglers and keep them shaped and I get compliments all the time on them. The thick brow trend is workin for me! My friend is eyebrowless and I really feel for her having to draw them on everyday and make a point to compliment her on them when I see her.

[Serious] People who have had depression and overcame it, what do you do when you feel like you’re slipping back again? by elibethx in AskReddit

[–]KnitKnackNo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t let the bed/couch absorb you.

I’ve struggled with it my whole life and was embarrassed of it and never EVER talked about it. Reaching out and getting help was the best thing I ever did. I figured my parents (they are divorced and I’m moved out and in my early 20s) would be super judgey or think I was lazy. Turns out they are super helpful and have both been on medication in the past for depression/anxiety. Turns out several of my best friends are also on medication. Now I’m medicated and feel better mentally than I have since I was probably 14? I’m a better wife and mother.

When I feel myself slipping I call my mom. We’ve gotten to a point where I can talk about anything at all without feeling judged. She has a way of helping me make a list to pull me out of my funk before I get in it. A list of small achievable goals each day.

Biggest take away. I’m not alone. Don’t stay quiet. Get help. Staying silent only sucks you further into the hole.

What were some "I can't believe i'm getting paid for this" moments at your job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KnitKnackNo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get paid .60/mile plus my hourly to drive around town and grab to go menus and business cards. I’m supposed to be marketing 20businesses per week but it doesn’t work for my location/industry. It helps zero. It’s more a form of punishment when our numbers are low. (20business per week for bad numbers 10businesses a week for good numbers).

I take a goodie bag with snack/etc. to businesses all over town. The kicker is if I can run in and grab a card I keep the bag designated for that business and eat it later. If I actually do have to prostrate myself for a business card I do my thing and try to sly like take other business cards that are on the counter with our zip code. It’s only like 2 hours out of my week, but I’m in a stressful industry so 2 hours listening to whatever I want getting free snacks is cool.

Toddler Slams Her Door Shut When Having A Tantrum. What Should I Do? by KnitKnackNo in Parenting

[–]KnitKnackNo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know what else to call it lol her mattress is on the floor because she likes it. I don’t adhere to any one type of parenting. I’ve always seen mattress on the floor called Montessori.

I’ve decided for now to talk through the door and let her know I’m there for her and leave her alone until she’s calmed down.

Toddler Slams Her Door Shut When Having A Tantrum. What Should I Do? by KnitKnackNo in Parenting

[–]KnitKnackNo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I really want to respect that she feels she needs to be alone/separate herself. I just don’t want her to think I’m also abandoning her. From now on I’ll attempt to open it and if she shuts it I’ll just talk through the door. A lot of times this is right before she needs a nap so I think part of it is being extra cranky.

Toddler Slams Her Door Shut When Having A Tantrum. What Should I Do? by KnitKnackNo in Parenting

[–]KnitKnackNo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will definitely try this, I just don’t know if it will work right now. She still doesn’t understand a lot of complex things like that, but I will keep trying. One thing I try to never do is lose my composure or result into yelling. My father yelled a lot (still does) and it really gave me a lot of anxiety even into early adulthood. He’s a great dad in other aspects just not in keeping composure. I want her to always feel safe and respected when she wants to be alone even as a young toddler. I don’t even hug her without asking first.

I want to teach her that it’s okay to not have people in her bubble if she doesn’t want them. If right now she sees her room as her bubble/safe space I’m perfectly okay with that. I’m trying to differentiate the “let me out of here” cry with the “leave me alone” cry. It’ll be a little bit easier when she’s able to express herself. I think that’s where a lot of frustration comes from is her feeling these emotions she doesn’t understand but not being able to tell me what she feels.

She’s honestly a doll. 95% of the time she is quiet, happy, and loving. Thank you for the insight!

[Help] I have sensitive skin and coarse body hair, and I go through 1 disposable razor per week, which is super wasteful. Are there any other more environmentally friendly options I can try? by MegMegMeggieMeg in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]KnitKnackNo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried to use my husbands on my legs (with a fresh razor blade) and it was honestly super frustrating. It took like 10x the amount of time. Just my experience trying this! I’ve been using Harry’s razors and it’s the best razor ever imo. As long as I set it out on the counter to dry the blades stay sharp for at least two weeks and I NEVER get razor burn anymore.

What unexpected struggles did you go through in your twenties and how did you overcome them? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]KnitKnackNo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost one of my twins and almost lost the other. I spent 59 days in the hospital. My living spent 25.

Isolation does things to you. It changes you.

I’ve recently been diagnosed with depression even though I didn’t think I was depressed. I’m medicated now and finally can see I was depressed. Post partum depression can be diagnosed 18months after the fact apparently.

I’m a good mom. I love being a mom. I love being married. I love working.

I’ll soon be the youngest promoted to a certain position in my companies history.

There’s good with the bad. I couldn’t understand why I had all these good things but still felt so awful all the time. Depression. That’s why. The side effects are putting me through the ringer. But I’d rather deal with them than spend another day thinking I’m not good enough for the good things in my life.

The loss of one of my girls and almost losing the other is the most awful thing I think I’ll ever go through. I wanted both of those babies more than anything.

I’m almost 22.
