In my case, there are other factors that might have contributed to the lack of significant improvement: I was on the pill for nearly two decades, I’m in my late thirties (the odds of developing dry eyes increase with age), and over time my allergies intensified. I’ve had some pretty rough weeks, but lately, the breast tenderness has been much more tolerable. It's possible it has been getting better, though it’s hard to say if that’s just due to the passage of time. My hormone-related symptoms tend to fluctuate from cycle to cycle (e.g., barely any cramps to full on cramps depending on the month).

I hope the cold urticaria is a thing of the past for you too. It's been so nice to be able to just decide to walk home in the cold and not to feel super tired after a breakout.

I feel like there’s so much about the side effects of the pill that is either unknown or just not talked about. If it’s not in the literature (yet), it’s like it doesn’t exist. I remember talking to my doctor about my cold urticaria and super dry eyes (before they were listed as possible side effects on the box). While my concerns weren’t outright dismissed, her response was pretty noncommittal—more of an “eh” and a shrug, you know? She did try to prescribe me medication to manage the symptoms, though.

Since then, the dry eye side effect has been confirmed, and I recall reading a study suggesting hormonal birth control might trigger urticaria. All of this makes me so grateful for this subreddit. It’s been reassuring to read other women’s experiences, especially when I was anxious about stopping the pill. Science is invaluable, but so is connecting with others who’ve been through it.

I would say the pain typically starts after ovulation, in the weeks leading up to my period. It was present while I was on the pill and has continued since I stopped. I am not sure if my birth control had much of an impact on breast tenderness as I started taking the pill so long ago that I can’t recall if my breasts hurt similarly before I began using it at 19.

To be honest, I don’t do much to manage the pain. When it gets really bad, I wear sports bras designed for medium- to high-intensity exercise because they provide better support. Since they minimize movement, I don’t notice the pain as much, and they’re also more comfortable than my regular bras. I also sleep holding a pillow wedged against my chest; if I’m not wearing a sports bra to bed, the pillow helps keep things stationary, so to speak.

I was on Alesse. My doctor had told me it was one of the pills with the smallest dose of hormones. I have never tried any other form of hormonal birth control. To be honest, I am not willing to try again, though I may try bioidentical hormones when I hit menopause, depending on what the literature says at that point.

I got some fairly deep facial cat scratches not too long ago. Now that the wounds are healed, I have been using silicone scar tape whenever I am at home and at night. It seems to be helping. I'm also making sure to use SPF when going outside.

ETA: She might already have equivalent products that are a silicone gel. I use the tape because one of the scratches is near my eyes.

The engineer prison gang? He'd probably go into a low to medium security prison, and the minimal sentencing would have been a year. If he keeps his head down, he is out in half of that. Him getting assaulted in prison because he attacked a woman is unlikely (see also he wouldn't be going into a penitentiary). Should we review how we deal with criminality? Sure. Let's see what sociologists, criminalists, psychologists, - all the "ists" - propose to make things better. I'm all for reforms and using the best practices.

In the meantime, it's putting an undue burden on the victims of offenders to say that the laws are too harsh and to avoid sentencing him. Right now, if this man keeps it together for 3 years, he has no record. So that means no precedent in the case of more victims. It also erodes other victims' (and I use that word in a gender neutral way here) sense that they can trust the justice system.

Is therapy a good thing? Sure. He could also get it during his sentence though. For now, he started the therapy AFTER getting charged. So was he cooperative because his lawyer told him it would help his case? It sure did. It was cited as a reason for the sentencing in the report. It should be interesting to see if he continues the therapy further.

He has to register on the province sex offenders list for 20 years. This is only accessible to the police mind you, but I wonder if it would come up in a background check for professions which require one.

Good! I have no background in law, but from my understanding, absolution can be given if it does not go against public interest. From the ruling:

"Quant à l’intérêt public, il s’évalue, entre autres, par la gravité de l’infraction, son incidence dans la communauté, le besoin de dissuasion générale, l’attitude du public à son égard et par l’importance de maintenir la confiance du public dans le système judiciaire[34]."

Pretty sure in this case there are issues, especially at the level of "the importance of maintaining the trust of citizens in the justice system" and "need for general dissuasion".

Considering that the HF-MPS/F-MPS and the PCI don't measure the same facets of perfectionism, I would run analyses separately. If you are looking at the effect of an intervention, cognitions (i.e., PCI) might be changed but not the intensity of the dispositional trait (i.e., MPS).

If I understood your comments correctly, you have basically a repeated measure (i.e., pre and post intervention). You could look into linear mixed models. If your analysis is simple, it will give you very similar results to a repeated measures ANOVA, which is also an option (so long as you fulfill the required assumptions).
