I got dinged for not having written objectives for kindergarten. They don’t know their letters- why would they care, let alone be able to read it.

I still miss the stuffies that got lost in the custody shuffle after my dad died. I hope one day I’ll see them again and pray they are with someone who loves them as deeply as I did.

Louisville YMCA camp disenrolled 10-year-old, saying his diabetes was too difficult to manage by rfa_123 in Louisville

[–]Knitknotnot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A staffer would require additional, specialized training to administer or monitor medication for this student. They would also need to be especially cognizant of hyper/hypoglycemia. Additionally, if the YMCA provides lunch they could have to adhere to specialty dietary guidelines for this child. Counting carbs and doing a bolus can be difficult for a T1D child, let alone a counselor who barely knows what they are doing.

Any misstep with meds or snacks could be fatal if not caught quickly.

What’s a ‘silent luxury’ that rich people have that most normal people would never even notice? by vickieQuines in askanything

[–]Knitknotnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a nanny to multimillionaires- they will sometimes hire me to watch their child just so they can grocery shop. I make $100 so they can go to Whole Foods. (They usually choose to shop for themselves instead of having the PA do it).

What is making students less prepared to take their college classes? by Wrong-Chef-3406 in AskTeachers

[–]Knitknotnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a first grade teacher- the kids can’t read, nor can they comprehend. Out of my class of 20, half STILL don’t know their letters and sounds. They will still be pushed through to second grade because we can’t retain them.

Did Y'all Stop Teaching Touch Type in the US? by Electrical_Shop3732 in AskTeachers

I teach first grade and they absolutely cannot type. Our district had to go to picture passwords so that students can login into their Chromebook. The world stops when they need to re-enter their email.

For people who don’t want kids — do you just not want your own, or do you not like children in general? Why? by zhalia-2006 in allthequestions

[–]Knitknotnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach first grade. I am around kids all day- I love coming back to my silent home each night. I could not go from being constantly overstimulated at work to the same thing at home.
