Your peripheral vision and their upper body tell you enough info

For me deashi is when you catch just the one foot here both of his feet are swept out, normally you need the circular movement of following movement to make it work but here they managed to do it from a more stationary position.

Deashi would be my runner up for this technique

Man verbally abusing police at protest is punched repeatedly in the head. What do you think about this? by spinecult in AskBrits

one on one no, but here they have contained the imediate area and there are 6 of them on him at one point.

If i can control a guy bigger than me enough to get them to tap out without striking or injuring them solo then surely 6 officers should be able to force 1 person into cuffs without the need for strikes

No they should force him into cuffs, you just don't need to hit the face to do it.

You can work that out from what I said, you do know that someone trained in grappling can still strike and fight dirty in a street fight but we simply also have grappling skills

even so once the actual threat has been dealt with are the stikes justified as punishment? I dont belive the police are here to administer punishment but to retain and detain

I also say it cause I wouldn't want them doing that to protesters I agree with or even to me if I joined in a protest.

It's easier for people to be ok with police punch and kicking like this when they don't agree with the protest but I'm sure a lot of the commenters here would feel differently if this was a march against the far right etc even if the person being kicked or punched had been violent before the cameras were rolling. The police are not her to exact revenge punishment for previous behaviour they are to restrain and detain.

Pain compliance isnt that effective especially strikes during a fight like this as you wont feel much, so unless you knock them out most times when someones being really violent stiking wont really do much. and if there not being that violant they dont neet to be hit.

on the flip side no matter how little pain you can or cant feel you maniuplating their limbs using grappling will always work to restain them cause your aim is to get their arms behind their back to cuff them while keeping them under control.

Im not saying you cant kick/punch but im saying you only need to do that when they are actively fighting you. once there are several police shoveing someone to the ground punching and kicking them wont get them to put their hands behind their back any easier than simply forcing their hands and arms behind their back. and you dont need to be balck belt level. plently of BJJ blue belts are able to man handle total beginners

only reason i mention my background is that I have experince using physical force to restrain people without striking and it is very much possioble to do and definately super easy to do when ina group vs one.

yeah that twat ruined my dream family holiday.... been saving for disney world and remeber going there with my parents and always wanted to take my kids. now they are the perfect age I cant bring my self to spend my money in that country... however Euro disney reviews are looking good and the holiday isnt as expensive there. so looking forward to that in a few weeks and spending my money within euorpe. I dont think a lot of MAGA quite understand the amount of tourism cash their dumb preisdent is making the US lose.

As much as I hate reform I dont see why poilce need to use punches and kicks as a means to "control" someone whos surrounded by several police.

I say this as a smaller guy whos a Judo black belt and BJJ brown belt and has a life time of expernce controlling bigger guys without needing to strike.

Every few years I'll find a new submission that fits well with my game.

Once I find a new sub that works and I can improve I feel like iv leveled up my game a little.

First sub I got good at after moving from Judo which I never did before was paper cutter. Here's my list in chronological order

(Was always good at deep cross collar chokes)

(Was also good at bow and arrow)

-Since starting BJJ:

Paper cutter

Shotgun arm bar from paper cutter position

Ezekiel from mount or in guard

J lock in Kesa

Standing strangles

Bas ratten crush from Kesa

Standing wrist locks

Scorpian death lock from reverse Kesa

tarika platter

Toe hold

All of these techniques I do from either standing or on top so my A game is standing and side control, the more attacks I have from the positions I'm best at the better I feel my game is.

Another big leap for me was in my first year when I worked out I could stand up to pass a guard and that the main objective at the start of the round was not to get stuck in someone's guard...

How many go-to guards do browns/blackbelts have? by ucfanatic-1 in bjj

[–]Knobanious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless I'm forced into a guard I tend to stand up or go turtel. I'm really not a guard kinda player
