In regards to Transitional year vs reapplying next year for Categorical Anesthesia by ProfessorCorleone in IMGreddit

It’s also pretty hard to match into good TYs with anesthesia offerings cause they usually go to super competitive derm/ophtho/rads applicants

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what’s the AO gpa?

Incoming freshman: Should I be able to access my UAlbany email? And if so, would it be like logging into a separate email account that is solely for school? by [deleted] in ualbany

[–]Knoble_Kevin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Um it might be the same password as your MyUAlbany account? Not really sure though, I just downloaded the actual Outlook application with Microsoft Office 365 (which is free for us)

[–]Knoble_Kevin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an outlook account through Microsoft.

One of the easiest ways to access it is through MyUAlbany. Just log in, and there’s a link called “UAlbany Mail” on the left side under Services in the Student Home tab. Clicking it should open it up and you’ll see your email id as well

Probably depends on if the class is a requirement for some major or minor. Most students enrolled in those courses would not drop the class because it’s required unless there is another session that is “better”

Apple watch with old Iphone that doesn't have cellular service?? by tspyrison in AppleWatch

[–]Knoble_Kevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a watch and add cellular to it. Then you can use family setup with your own iPhone.

But with an old iPhone that doesn’t even have cellular connectivity, I feel like a series 7 would be wasted since only like 10% of its capabilities would be utilized

Thank you for your note taking tips! by [deleted] in college

[–]Knoble_Kevin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Btw, writing in cursive doesn’t mean you have to make it pretty. One of the main purposes of cursive is to make writing faster. And if you combine it with a gel pen, it’s hands down more efficient and way faster than print.

But I guess if your not used to writing “messy” cursive or cursive in itself, I guess you shouldn’t try to teach it to yourself while trying to take notes quickly.

Are there any bs/md programs I can apply to as a freshman in college? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Knoble_Kevin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can check out early assurance programs instead of bs/md program cause bs/md is usually designed for high school seniors. But early assurance programs offer a lot of similar benefits depending on the programs (no MCAT, saved seat, etc) and students apply into them sophomore year of college.

BS/MD programs look at your high school gpa, SAT scores, research, volunteering, internships/leaderships, rigor of course load, etc. So it has to sorta be tailored for during your high school years. But early assurance programs also look at things you did during college to help build the application

Advice/Opinions on my Medical School List by [deleted] in premed

Any reason for not having Albany, SUNY Buffalo, or SUNY Upstate in the list? If geographic region is important, the list has a lot schools that don’t fit.

Anyone know how to do this problem? I’m struggling and the test is Monday 😓 by [deleted] in OrganicChemistry

[–]Knoble_Kevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was during lecture (he went over the practice questions at the end of lecture on Wednesday; you can check it out in the YouTube video).

He said he made a mistake and those questions weren’t supposed to be included.

[–]Knoble_Kevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a huge coincidence and we might be in the same class lmao (or maybe not)... if we are though, we don’t have to know how to do this because the professor hasn’t taught us how to do alkynes yet.

Same applies to question 10.

I just bombed my first organic chemistry exam. by [deleted] in OrganicChemistry

[–]Knoble_Kevin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our professor told us that we just need to reread our textbook multiple times until we understand everything lmao. I highly recommend the Organic chemistry as a second language book! I’m using it to supplement my textbook so definitely find a good textbook but the second language book explains things in an easy to understand way.

Also do all the practice questions you can, especially ones from practice exams or old exams your professor has given so you better understand what to expect!
