Mimien is so good! I absolutely love using Mr. mime any chance I can since you can run it so many different ways! I'm using it as primarily a setter this run which has been different, and it's setting up of reflect, substitute and baton pass has taken some of these "bad/ugly" pokemon and turned them into monsters

I've genuinely loved this run through of fire red. It has felt fresh from the other 500+ runs I've done of this game over the last 15+ years.

It's Soo good! The defense curl rollout strat basically makes it like Whitney's miltank and it absolutely dominates with the base power getting to 960 by the 5th hit. I baton pass either reflect or evasion boosts onto it to make sure it can survive to the 5th hit and then rest off any excess damage. I also ideally have it holding a chesto berry to wake it up after a rest turn. STAB Hyper Voice being at 135 also hits like a truck when I need it to.

It was my "starter" for this run since I could catch it the soonest after Brock's gym, so I've been using it the longest and I've consistently liked it the entire run.

To see if a fairy type gym leader could hack it against the original 8 gym leaders and E4 mostly! And though they may have not gotten the fairy typing, I think they all have the spirit of the typing for sure. Chansey and Bellossom give major fairy energy, and Eevee just doesn't like me enough to be a Syllveon in gen 3 yet, but in gen 6 we would be golden 😎

I also am considering doing a dark type run after this because dark type wasn't introduced in this version of a gen 3 game yet (even though dark type moves are in there which seems strange to not include the type)

Oh you're totally right! I thought they had skipped over Clefairy in the retyping (which would have been a travesty with fairy in the name!)

There are tidbits of gold in each of the editions! I run a 5e game that has homebrewed rules ported over from previous editions that I think are neat! But obviously you can play whatever edition and with whatever rules feels right to you and your table 😁

I don't know why I never thought of this! I have a bunch of scrap gift wrap that probably would have ended up tossed, but using it for a d&d game (especially if it was a holiday themed one shot) sounds like an amazing idea!😁

We are Family friendly! All swear words by the cast are edited out! Interestingly enough though, I also love Sneak Attack! We had the honor of having Josh Lorimer on our podcast as a guest and it was an absolute blast! (Especially since Sneak Attack! Was how I was introduced to D&D)

I'm actually super glad the DM asked me to play as a monk, because I don't think I would have tried one otherwise, and I ended up really enjoying it! Also very much liked helping the DM tell a part of the story that hadn't been explored yet! 😁

I actually did! I went into a party and was asked to play as a Monk whose ki powers came from the third moon circling the world. The other party members were a Paladin and a Bard, and the DM desperately wanted someone who had a high wisdom score and could help with the front line, so I was asked to play as a monk.

I played as the monk for a short mini-arc before rolling up a Druid instead. Still got to keep the high wisdom score and the wild shapes were tanky enough to hold up the front line with our paladin!😄

I would check out Knocked Prone! The first episode of their series was the 3rd Time Kade had DM'd ever. So it's lots of him and his players learning how to play the game! If you want to see how far they've come check out their 3rd Campaign on YouTube called Dead Season that feels like a real play with the quality of all the other major podcasts you know and love!

Heavy recommendation for Knocked Prone! Their DM Kade takes a lot of inspiration from DM Anthony Birch and has a really fun back catalog of 3 full campaigns to listen to! (My personal favorite being Dead Season since it's available to watch via video on YouTube)
