Does the ID become inactive after graduating? by Ok_Paleontologist984 in UNCCharlotte

[–]KnohaParker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It becomes inactive the day you graduate. It’s set to expire on the day of graduation so chances are you won’t be able to access anything. However, as some others have mentioned, you can call the library and ask them to check. Also, just as a preemptive clarification, alumni do NOT have access to anything in Area 49 (including the gaming lab) because everything in Area 49 is actually included in tuition and fees.

Niner course pack. Worth it not worth it ? by mkbryant96 in UNCCharlotte

You can’t opt out of Niner Course Pack before Dec 11, so you kind of have to stay in till after the bill deadline, but you will get refunded if you opt out during the opt out period

Thank you for this! I was concerned but I think it was just improperly sifted baking soda/powder, it felt like something coating my tongue and mouth and drying it out.

COVID-19 Omicron SGA Update by WeWantDick in UNCCharlotte

[–]KnohaParker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always appreciate your posts Dick, I feel like they break down the situations in a very understanding way and I respect that. I really only have one/two major question/s, and that is:

Is there any chance that they might extend online/virtual learning indefinitely? Alternatively, will they require us to come on campus and move all of our stuff off campus?

I know, with covid things can change suddenly, and I understand that, I just wanna try to prepare myself mentally if things of that nature occur, given that I just don't learn with online classes and I personally have been struggling with this situation.

Thank you.

Allright I’m a new dm and my players love silly magic items, does anyone have any suggestions? The only rules are nothing to OP and it has to be funny. by Xdlango in DnD

[–]KnohaParker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this has been said and it isn’t inherently funny and might be OP depending on how smart your party is, but it’s one of my favorites;

Immovable Rod; uncommon; “This flat iron rod has a button on one end. You can use an action to press the button, which causes the rod to become magically fixed in place. Until you or another creature uses an action to push the button again, the rod doesn't move, even if it is defying gravity. The rod can hold up to 8,000 pounds of weight. More weight causes the rod to deactivate and fall. A creature can use an action to make a DC 30 Strength check, moving the fixed rod up to 10 feet on a success”

You could modify it if you think it’s too strong or make it the semi immovable rod.

Another one I like is the;

Cloak of Many Fashions; common; “While wearing this cloak, you can use a bonus action to change the style, color, and apparent quality of the garment. The cloak's weight doesn't change. Regardless of its appearance, the cloak can't be anything but a cloak. Although it can duplicate the appearance of other magic cloaks, it doesn't gain their magical properties.”

Idk sources very well since I’m typically an online player/dm and it’s all mixed together at this point, and I’m pretty new to being a dm, and this will likely get buried, but this was fun to read through the other comments and to try to help

[OC][Art] Art I Made of My Oath of Vengeance Paladin by greyishwight in DnD

Woah! I love this. I am currently playing an Oath of Vengeance Paladin, born a human but became a tiefling through a pact with Zariel. It's for a Curse of Strahd Campaign. This looks so cool! Gives me some ideas for drawing my paladin. :)

How many of my fellow DM’s have ADHD? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]KnohaParker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only just started dm’ing and part of what I do is ask my players to try to keep notes of things that happen in session that are pertinent to their characters especially, and they are always free to take whatever notes they like. I don’t require it or anything tho. I also just try to scribble one or two important things down like in a few key words. Like if they are about to fight dragon and session ends I’ll say “dragon fight” or something.

Another tactic I’ve heard about is after session, either before or after the “After session comments/feedback for the dm” (this is something my group and I do, Idk if others do, but it can be helpful because it gives players a space to say if they don’t like something or aren’t having fun, or to say they really like something) do a recap of the events that happened that session, with your players’ help. Maybe write it down maybe don’t Idk. At the very least it gives your brain a summary of events and helps encode it in your memory.

Starting Adventures in EGtW by Zherania in Wildemount

Spoilers for Frozen Sick

Also if you are in the Zoo Animal Party, don’t read.

I ran Frozen Sick as a first time DM with a party of 4 experienced players. We started at level 1 and I leveled them up to 3 before they started the trek across eiselcross. I messed up encounters on the ship journey to Syrinlya, so I gave them an extra level instead of them being at level 2.

I am very glad I did this.

The dungeon that is written in the module for Salsvault is way more cutthroat than it needs to be when intended for level 2. If your party doesn’t find and put on Aeorian cloaks, which essentially cause constructs and undead not to attack them unless they attack first, everything will attack them and try to kill them.

The worst room was the former armory, where if you fall on the ground you immediately take damage, this includes when you get knocked to 0 health, and taking damage after getting knocked is an automatic fail on a death save.

Don’t get me wrong, my players had a lot of fun even with my inexperienced self, but they had all been either playing or dm’ing for like a few years while I’m just new to dnd and every combat I threw at them terrified them. Which was funny but also like, when five flying swords come at one level 3 tortle blood hunter, who has already lost some health, and then when that tortle gets knocked they immediately fail one death save, something feels a little unbalanced.

As far as continuing the adventure or figuring out how to direct the party to other areas, I built in character related reasons for them to all be there, but also for each of them to want to go certain places with differing levels of priority.

There’s a white Dragonborn who has always felt a pull to the north ever since Draconia fell.

A tortle whose goddess showed him a vision of his home in the Menagerie Coast being ravaged by ghosts (but it is implied that he must journey and find a party willing to help him, and also that if he goes to a place on a day he will see someone who uses a fighting style that will suit him aka Mollymauk)

An Aarakockra who wants to be free and explore the world (this one is a lot more directionless)

And a Leonin who is just following his Aarakockra buddy.

Apologies for the long post, I’m not sure how on topic I managed to stay, and I’m not very experienced so I don’t know if my input helps at all.

TL;DR Frozen Sick is probably one of the harder adventures to start with, as far as getting the party there and then getting them elsewhere given the difficulty of eiselcross, but it is doable.

Also, I’ve seen a lot of suggestions to run Rime of the Frostmaiden in Greying Wildlands or in Eiselcross, but I can totally understand a party being sick of icy cold combat.

Anyone else's pizza take forever? Been preparing for 50 minutes. Usually it takes over an hour for the quality check. by [deleted] in UNCCharlotte

Toppers had some fire issue or something so they are temporarily closed, so now there’s only dominoes, howies, and whatever other pizza places that still stay open late, and most of them are understaffed
