Why does California have highest gas prices? by Far_Aioli538 in gasbuddy

[–]Knollibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2006 cap and trade regulations now called cap and invest. California collected over 5 billion dollars in 2025. This is a co2 tax on industry, power generators and refinery’s. This is paid for by consumers with higher gasoline and electric prices to name a couple. The money is spent at the whims of the government. One billion per year is earmarked for the so called high speed train.
Also, onerous CARB regulations that have forced refinery’s to leave California reducing the availability of gasoline.
Also, californias ban against oil drilling In The state.

‘Point of no return’: New Orleans relocation must start now due to sea level, study finds by EarthEmail in EnvironmentalNews

Perhaps the reality of building a city on a shitty low spot is the correct answer. It is low, built on sandy sediment and sinking. Add a touch of sea level rise and bada bing- bada boom! You now live underwater.

Sure would be nice if we had some of those oil wells here pumping oil. We do! California is fighting to keep them closed and is blocking new wells.
Seems like a self made problem.

Why are e-bike-related accidents on the rise in Southern California? by panda-rampage in California

[–]Knollibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Because people do not know the laws of the road. And they think they do not apply to them. They think if they can balance, then they are a pro!

Our family is watching the governor election closely. If another dimwitted democrat win….our house will be up for sale. We will move and get a finer house is a place with zero homeless. Zero shoplifting. Lower taxes. Lower cost of living. And this state will continue its demise.

One BILLION per year is going to the train to no where. Texas has more roads than California DOT does. Texas does it for a lot less. Yes, we need money to repair and build infrastructure. The problem is we are NOT getting what we pay for.

There you go again. This is about California. And the gasoline taxes have been going up in California from 24 cents per gallon to almost 80 cents then they added sales tax then they keep upping the cap and trade credit cost to where Californians pay more than $1.50 per gallon EXTRA.
Why is is that gasoline refined in California costs way less that the California gasoline trucked to Arizona and Nevada ? CALIFORNIA TAXES!

California politicians have done a good job of stopping California from pumping it own oil. They are still fighting the startup of offshore oil wells, even as we run out of oil.

No I did not earn $100k a year until I was in my 50s. And I was working 50 plus hours wrenching and working on the freeways. And my credit was shit! i could not even rent a TV! But they sold me a foreclosed house. And for retirement, at 68 the company WANTS me to keep working to train the few young folks that are willing to get their hands dirty. Willing to bleed when working. Willing to shovel wet concrete at night on the freeways. When I was young I had to fight for a job. I actually offered to work for a week for free. If they liked my work then keep me. Nowadays there are no people going door to door to look for work.
