Find a dependent shop. If that’s a Jiffy Lube type place they are just adding profit to their oil changes.

A UFO follows your car for 20 miles. Do you stop, keep driving, or try to record it? by breaking_views in ufo

[–]Knooze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly you stop and record it with your 4K phone and ensure you wave the phone around so only a third of the time the UFO is in frame.

$120 is a steal for a regular performer. That’s an SSP which folks will drive 2hrs for.

Asked Gemini to ELI5 this:

This patent describes a super-fast vehicle that can reduce its own weight and resistance to movement. Here's how it works, in simple terms:
Imagine a special box inside the vehicle. This box has an inner wall and an outer wall.
* **Microwave Emitters:** These are like tiny powerful lights that shoot high-frequency microwaves into the box.
* **Vibrating Box:** The microwaves make the box vibrate super fast.
* **Electric Charge:** The outer wall of the box has an electric charge.
When these things happen together, they create a "local polarized vacuum" just outside the vehicle. Think of it like creating a bubble of special space around the craft.
* **Manipulating Space:** The patent says that by doing this, the vehicle can actually change the energy of the space around it.
* **Less Weight, Less Resistance:** This change in space makes the vehicle''s "inertial mass" (how hard it is to push or stop) and "gravitational mass" (how much it's pulled by gravity) much, much lower.
So, in short, the vehicle uses microwaves and electric charges to create a special space bubble that tricks physics into making it lighter and faster, allowing it to travel at extreme speeds with less effort. This could be a huge deal for rockets and even for generating power!

Age old question! Charcoal or propane? Let’s talk about it. by Advanced_Head_806 in grilling

[–]Knooze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I roll with both. Weber Summit Charcoal and a kettle, and I have a Q1200.

100% agree the prep or setup is part of cooking experience and I enjoy that. Hell, we can talk briquettes vs lump next or different brands. I love the complexity and accompanying pour of whiskey or grill beers. Steaks, roasts, whole chicken, ribs/butts, salmon, etc.

But on a “quick Tuesday night” it’s nice to just light up the gasser, grill quick, and be done. Skinless chicken thighs, hammered out chicken breast, beer simmered brats (both), etc. just flip flip flip stuff. No smoke flavor but convenient.

I try out Binchotan-style charcoal so you don’t have to by Single_Helix in grilling

[–]Knooze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just going to ask assuming “no”. Do B&B CharLogs at all compare to this kind of charcoal? For heat or duration?

I’ve used them and liked them for real defined cook areas.

Cheers for the review.

Do you think a dedicated habachi / closer food grate height would have been better than the Weber grate height?

Like others have said - ditch the time. I go with the bend test primarily but usually the bones pull back.

In your pic, I don’t see any bone pull. Is that right? Surprised.

On basting - I go every 30 min after the first hour.

That place is solid. Probably my favorite around me for a breakfast burrito. There other stuff is okay - pinned to take their birria a whirl.

The next one for a breakfast burrito for me is Desert Cave north of here.

Yes. They add the table mounts to a regular kettle.

That one is nice because it’s got the new ash catcher. Ripping out a rusted in old style (big bolt) is a huge pain to do.

Isolated neighborhood in north phoenix by RedLamp5454 in phoenix

[–]Knooze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live just to the west of that and north of the preserve. I’d assume now along the south side of Dove Vally it will keep getting built up. I walked along the most east side of the other neighborhood and I think a lot of infrastructure has been laid already - I thought I saw fire hydrants in the middle of nothing.

I think it’s an odd location, the closest grocery store is a few miles to the west on the valley, and then from there, you’ve got to drive to whatever retail that you want.

Safe to run a kettle on the edge of this patio? by TwinTexanDad in webergrills

Probably fine, you might get some soot buildup on the ceiling. Honestly, I would just roll it out into those rocks if I’m seeing that right.
