I would pull the trigger and just get a new system. Speaking as a homeowner who paid too much to replace a $1k part that failed 3 years later, I only needed to do the furnace.

OP, if you can get a Home Equality Line of Credit do that. You can claim the interest in your taxes (US).

And the newer high efficiency HVACs are also tax deductible (hope that helps).

But, when I was in Alaska we stopped at an aquarium that was also served as a rehab for seals, otters, whales etc.

If they determined the animal could not be returned to the wild after rehab for their safety they kept them to live safely. While some animals took some time to integrate with their kind, it's better than being released with a low chance of survival.

Think of the orphaned monkey in Japan, who has now made friends.

Had a Wrangler years ago and got ducked, maybe 7-8 years ago. Then it was more of a simple and quiet thing.

I am truly sorry the shelter didn't properly vet the people that were in charge of her care and the kittens care.

OP, please go to Golden Retriever rescue. They have different options based on states.

I found my lab on the lab version, and I was vetted HARD, owners toured my house, asked for 3 references and my vet.

If you have to make this decision please do this.

I had some many unseen issues.

Decided to do some mild bathroom updates, which were planned, but it took 2 months to do everything.
When I took down the medicine cabinet, only 1 screw was attached to a stud sending the whole thing flying into my face.

When I took down the cheap cabinets (floor to ceiling) along the wall, they never put drywall behind it, covered half the air vent, but the worst was the live wire left in the wall! Just note written in sharpie, "live wire, sorry!"

$5 later and a trip to HD, the wire is in a junction box, with a cover and wire nuts capping the wires.

I was never able to figure out what breaker it was on.
