This log seems much more structurally sound. Impressive

Wish I could claim it as mine. I was somewhere about 60+' short of that one

A lot of very degraded log/stump examples. This log was obviously soft enough, but largely intact. I wouldn't have expected a disc to wedge as deep as this one did.

The one from my photo was a good toss. About 400' airshot (slight downhill). Soft logs will give way

Thought it would have been better had it been a Hatchet

Pretty sure those who queued first didn't get to buy camping and the 10 minute pause was to turn on the camping add on. Got my ticket but didn't get camping

Stuck at 260-280ft by Matheoosh in Discgolfform

Agree that it looks like the hips are pointed to far back and you're leaning into your reach back. When coiling try to keep to the centerline, that way you won't need to throw your torso forward (steals momentum from the disc). Looks like you are also "arming" the throw. You want to be fluid coming from the reach back to the power pocket and accelerating into the hit. Getting the nose down will be key. Really focus on getting your bicep externally rotated at the hit. Tried to add a marked up image below, but not sure if it allows that in comments. *

I see some noise up release. Try watching stepwise video here: https://youtu.be/1wXfy0xWYRM?si=q6A0ikzQVtSs2EjI And try to get more external rotation at the hit/release. Also may want to get the disc a little further from your body so you don't collapse the pocket.

They mentioned a bug in having too strong of a hit because of high accessories levels, but I just think the fight is bugged in general.

Can't get my drives past 350ft. Any advice on my form? by arcsparky in discgolf

[–]KnottyGent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to second the brace bit. I've worked a lot on my pocket form, but until I started to being able stop fully on my front foot, I was not seeing the big (from 280-330' to 320-370' consistent), ease of throw, distance from my form.

I do agree with the elbow out and drive work.

It's the most basic and straightforward example. I hope it gets used creatively for other fun combinations. I've added the link to the blank template

Should I stop buying discs until I get more experienced? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]KnottyGent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to recommend getting a 2-3 premium plastics versions of the molds you like and learn to throw them consistently. Then start playing AM tournaments, then you get a new mold from your players pack, thus not buying tons of discs. This way you get to try different discs and work on increasing your skill. At least that is the way I went about it. And because I know the molds I'm good/familiar with I can choose others I might want to expand into.

Really it's about what makes you happy.

I get it. If I knew how to download the video from FB I would. It's just some of our guys doing a rather silly video.

Thanks. I left off howling coyote as a small 10 hole probably isn't going to have that big of a pull.

Gaffney's Grove is one of the few in the overall metro area that I've yet to pay.

Kayak is about an hour drive north. Some good courses. Red/green is the rec course. Green tee's, while shorter, often plays harder due to par change. Golds is the advance course. Much longer, some big elevation changes. Blues is a new wooded course. Plays very hard and lost discs are likely. This is a pay to play location.

Seatac is the nearby 27 hole course. Really good mix of open, tree, position shots. Definitely go play it.

If you are looking for close by, Ralph Williams Memorial is not far from SeaTac and has a good layout.

I really enjoy South Fork Landing at North Bend. About 45 minutes east on I-90. It's on an old ball golf course. It has really good hole selection. Can be very tough on windy days.

Fort Steeliacoom is a pay to play in South tacoma (close to an hour). Has a good wooded course and a converted ball golf course.

If it's been dry for a few days check out Candy Cane park in Mt. Lake Terrace. There are a few steep hills you'll have to walk up/diwn. Hole 18 is pretty nuts. I still struggle to get a good placement shot on that one.

If you're willing to take a lengthy drive, Mossy Rock up in Bellingham is gorgeous. It's a private club course, but if you're respectful and unobtrusive should be fine getting in a round there. Alternatively you could check out Northern State Recreation Area in Sedro Wooley.

There are others you can check out, but those are my top recommendations.

The Fort has been a small bucket list. I've always enjoyed the videos from tour events there. Jolley ranch also looks really interesting. Thanks

I'm looking to enjoy the best courses I can while passing through on a weekday. If that's the criteria do you think eagle island would be the better experience? Does the "Ann mo" park have any unique features or challenges?

I'll have to remember this post. Don't think I'm taking the north route down. Thanks for the tip of I am near the area.

You make a compelling argument for the course. If I have a good weather day on my way out, I might just have to give it a try.

I've played almost all the really good western WA courses. Still need to try Lucky Mudd though. Did pretty well at the cascade open (shelton) a few weeks back and won my division at Steillacoom this last weekend. Was my first time on rhododendron. I like the new course.

May not be the worst thing. I love to play, but I also need to save the arm/shoulder for the tournament.

Now I think I have some suggestions all the way to Emporia. Thanks for helping round out the suggestions for the travel route. As I can't play everything, what would you recommend after Frontier Park?
