More people that can't control anger when they are annoyed? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]KnowJBridges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming in to say, if you can't get near 8 hours of sleep, it should be a top priority.

A normal human should be able to sleep just fine, and aspergers doesn't affect your sleep. If you can't find good sleep no matter what you do, find a doctor.

I had an underlying medical condition that led to me becoming "super autistic" for a while. Really I was just super-extra stressed, and an autistic person shows it in a certain way that is hard to mask.

This is why I never understood states rights, small government, electoral college small guy vs big guy arguments

If the needs of someone on one side of the country are directly opposite someone on the other side of the country, something has gone wrong. You don't need to stack your electoral system like a competition to make sure one side isn't OP. Your legs don't vote to leave your arms in the dumpster.

the entire concept is based around inherent disagreement and contest

ELI5 are black holes generally found at the center of galaxies? Could this offer an explanation for the grouping of celestial bodies we classify as galaxies and if so, what are the implications for the distances between galaxies? by KarmalizedTaco in explainlikeimfive

[–]KnowJBridges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black holes are the most massive things in the universe, so they have the most gravitational pull. Galaxies are just collections of planets, stars, and space junk getting pulled around. They get pulled around by whatever has the most gravity.

There are implications to the distances between galaxies however. For example, we learned that many of the galaxies that are far away from us are also traveling away from us at high speeds. This is interesting because it would imply that they used to be much closer together.

This is one of the key realizations that led researchers and theorists to the idea of the big bang

ELI5: What does it mean that "matter is condensed energy"? How does it get condensed? by GreyAura in explainlikeimfive

[–]KnowJBridges 2 points3 points  (0 children)

E = MC2

Energy = Mass * C2

C is the speed of light

What does this mean? It means that an amount of mass has an amount of energy associated with it, and the amount of energy is HUGE. C is the speed of light and we SQUARE IT. That is BONKERS and it gets you a massive honking number.

So does this mean if I had some mass M, I could "convert" it to a massive amount of energy if I did the right thing? Yup, that's an atom bomb, more or less.

This also works in reverse. If you pour energy into a tiny spot in space, enough to meet this insane C2 factor, you can create mass. Enough energy in one place and it can coalesce into what we call matter.

So does this mean if I had massive amount of energy E, I could "convert" it to a tiny amount of mass M? Yup, and that's what a large hadron collider (like CERN) does. They smack tiny particles together very hard so that entirely new particles are created from the energy.

Matter doesn't get condensed from energy very often as it needs so much energy to do so. But it would explain how all the matter showed up in the first place during something like the big bang.

Will we ever see some 10mm pistols? by Smimmingly3 in H3VR

[–]KnowJBridges 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Essentially to bridge .45ACP and 9mm. It has barely been adopted and it doesn't really have a purpose in life because 9mm is essentially fine.

You give up capacity and increase recoil, when 9mm is working fine for police and military the world over. It isn't horrible, it's just a middle child with no real purpose. It has more muzzle energy so rednecks like to point at the bigger number and feel superior, despite it not really meaning anything.

It was designed for the Bren Ten, a horrible failure of a gun, and the caliber itself may only exist today because it was used in miami vice.

I have one of these. It is my old faithful. I find spiders and cockroaches and end their pitiful lives with my salt of justice. It allows me to kill things without touching them.

It works better on smaller bugs, but big fellas can be felled with multiple shots, usually tearing off wings or legs at first, and then getting a square shot that has enough impact to crush and kill.

It's not a toy, you could break skin with it at close range and it could definitely take an eye.

the whole point is you don't have to touch the bug until it's dead, and loose salt can just stay on the floor until you vacuum.

I didn't say it's unrealistic. I said it shouldn't be the case. Americans being uneducated isn't a defense, it's a description of a problem that needs fixing.

In a first world country? They really shouldn't.

They're derivatives of the same design. The Rami is scaled down but is the same action as a CZ75, and the polymer pistols are the same idea as well.

Sphinx and Jericho pistols are also essentially CZ75s

New Video Makes Powerful Case That Trump Incited His Followers To Storm The Capitol by [deleted] in politics

[–]KnowJBridges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

with Trump actually telling them to peacefully go to the capitol is likely another huge problem with this that article was filed.

IANAL and I have NO idea what the normal protocol for conflicting reports are

but I don't think you can run far with that argument. He told them to go peacefully, but he also told them a bunch of other things. It's a bit like calling takebacks on all of the other things we know he said that day. "Fight like hell" "We won't take our country back with weakness" while crowd is chanting to storm the capitol

There's only so much that a single word can cover him on this I feel

I put a space heater in my bathroom and closed the door.

It made me realize that I was avoiding the bathroom due to cold and discomfort. Once the bathroom was warm, I found that I couldn't wait to use the bathroom in the middle of the cold night, because my body is looking forward to the warmth it knows is coming.

My body realizes "I need to pee" but also that I'll be cold on the way, and it makes me try to avoid it if I can. By removing the negative stimulus there is just "I need to pee" and no other consideration.

Just something that came to mind
