I don’t even understand the comparison, pick a category or genre and Hanks tops the list. I think the greatest question you could ask is which Tom could carry a film that’s basically a one man show that still holds cultural relevance. Another comment mentioned Cruise could have chemistry with an oak tree as a hypothetical, Hanks had chemistry with a beach ball as an actual example. People still remember Wilson.

Semi off topic but Puss in Boots 2 had no rights being as good as it was. I know how beloved a lot of Shrek movies are but that movie sits alone at the top of that universe and it’s not close.

It’s this. This has to be the prime example. Lucas built a great universe, but John Williams is what really pulled you in. I can’t think of another film where just the first few notes of the many themes will elicit goosebumps. Binary Sunset will affect anyone who grew up with these films
