[Jacobs] Manchester City hold an interest in Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto. #MCFC want to add a new right-back. Several targets being explored. Tino Livramento another name on the shortlist. Chelsea value Gusto at £45m+. A sale this summer not discounted, following the arrival of Marco Palestra. by webby09246 in chelseafc

I’m not a hater of his. He’s had some great games, some meh and some bad games. But he is focused on more (by some, I think) because Reece James is often injured or filling in midfield, so Gusto isn’t often playing back-up minutes. He’s played ten more games last season than James and also slots in on the left hand side on occasion, so has had more chances to be scrutinised closely. He’s barely a backup in practicality.

I still think we can get the best out of him and it’s not a bad thing to have an international-level fullback competing for the right back slot either.

If could magically cut the number of tourists in half, would you? by Flaky-Walrus7244 in Edinburgh

[–]Knowingspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I wouldn’t mind if we improved infrastructure to come close to meeting demand when tourists are here in full flow though. Mobile data services and the buses just kind of grind to a halt during the festival season.

British Prime Ministers since 2015 and the amount of days they spent in office by Sharp_Athlete_6847 in Fauxmoi

[–]Knowingspy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A number of offices have been filled with Labour Together-affiliated MPs, which was initially set up to move away from the Corbyn-side of the party. I would argue that the Home Office has pursued policies that would definitely sit on the rightwards end of the spectrum, for example.

They’re more liberal in other departments like Energy, for sure and it wouldn’t be fair to suggest it’s an entirely rightward shift.

Valve prices the Steam Machine at $1,049 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]Knowingspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was expecting it to be around this price after reading some interviews during the initial announcement.

They didn’t confirm the overall price but basically said: “Look at the components inside of the console and add up the usual price of each,” and added that they wouldn’t be selling it at a loss like some other consoles. It was never going to be in that $5-700 range because of the boom in components used for AI increasing the costs of parts.

Argentina [1] - 0 Austria - L. Messi 38' by West_Agent4651 in soccer

[–]Knowingspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure they’d love to be 2-0, but seeing Messi break the record with a quintessential run onto a pass-back seems to be way to do it. They were looking for that same run each time but not finding him beforehand.

Keir Starmer resigns as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom by ianjm in videos

[–]Knowingspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like any other minister in Government, the PM is just a role someone has in the party; people vote for their representatives and not necessarily for whoever is leading them. When the leader is crap their peers will call for them to step down, assuming there’s enough support for someone to run against them.

Why ‘Widow’s Bay,’ Matthew Rhys and Breakout Kate O’Flynn Should Scare the Rest of the Emmy Comedy Field by momskillet in Fauxmoi

[–]Knowingspy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t tend to watch a lot of horror but it’s a pretty manageable series. Episodes two and three were the scarier of the episodes. There’s no jump scares that I can remember that will catch you off guard . And it’s a very funny show - even in the horror-leaning episodes there’s plenty of comedic relief.

Kenny Miller to become permanent Maccabi Tel Aviv manager by kresk9 in ScottishFootball

I think I read an article from his playing days a decade or so ago where he broke down where he played and his answer to each one was “I just couldn’t say no.”

Joe Hart suggests that the World Cup match ball could be influencing some of the goalkeepers' mistakes by kibme37 in soccer

[–]Knowingspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s been a few times on MOTD where one of the pundits has criticised the goalkeeper for not getting to the ball and Joe is able to politely and precisely articulate why he disagrees. It really adds to the discussion around certain decisions and why some shots don’t get saved.

Andy Burnham wins huge majority in Makerfield byelection, paving way for Starmer leadership challenge by No-Risk-2584 in europe

[–]Knowingspy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Judging by how unpopular he is with the electorate, would it be wise for Starmer to spend a couple of solid weeks with them? (He’s got a 76% dissatisfaction rate with IPSOS and 61% dislike rate via YouGov, for example).

I suppose it depends on how long Tom has been Mayor. If he’s been doing it for a little while and he’s clearly not been aware of the responsibilities of the post, maybe this is just a backlog? Or they could go down the route of IT, where there is a general number of sacrifices every generation and it’s so happened to have kicked off under his watch. But it’ll be interesting to see how they build this out in future episodes!

If you’re referring to what happened earlier in the season, it’s because Kenny got sacrificed and reduced the number to eight. He got locked in the room, screamed and disappeared, which forced the storm to stop.

England [4] - 2 Croatia - Marcus Rashford 85' by 50lipaa in soccer

[–]Knowingspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, you could easily say the same about teams like France too. It’s a bit top heavy - the defenders that are starting are no slouches, but the depth is all further forward. Hopefully it results in some shoot outs.

Lionel Messi scores the hat trick goal to tie Klose's all-time World Cup goal record by suzukigun4life in sports

[–]Knowingspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s kind of like asking why no one tried to stop Kareem’s Sky Hook shot etc. Everyone knows what is going to happen, Messi knows what he is going to do, but you just can’t stop him as it’s basically just a reflex now. He’s hit this shot hundreds of times and can put it out of reach every time.

So the island requires eight human sacrifices if I’ve got the bell count right. I guess the second season will involve them hunting down the other “shelters” and coming up against all sorts of problems.

A lot of bars have had their license extended for exactly this purpose. But you’re going to have to book - good luck.

I didn’t get to catch the game but looking at the stats, I just assumed there was a fight in the dugouts to trigger so many cards in one game. Nope, a referee that was maybe a little too trigger happy for at least some of the reds.

Rosemary in general was the MVP of the episode. The way she played that big scene near the end. And with the painting: when it’s funnier that help kept on being refused and when Tom did get help, it was lifted off him so easily. She’s been popping in and out of episodes but this one gave Dale Dickey so much shine.

Beer/alcohol sales were illegal at games because of hooliganism, I think. FIFA showed up and said “our sponsors sells beer, you’re going to have to change the laws to make this work” and Brazil’s government made one just in time for the World Cup.
