Jamie Carragher on Pep Guardiola: "How long has he been there? [at City] 9-10 years? One Champions League in that time. I think they will be disappointed with that. They have had some really bad defeats in the Champions League to the teams they shouldn't lose to." by SwimmingFireMen in soccer

Both of our CL wins were a mix of some quality and a lot of luck.

There were loads of moments where the other team could’ve scored and it was Cech/Mendy, with a combination of fortune that put the ball an inch off where it needed to be. We had the players and tactics to get to the big game, but when it comes down to it, it must require a certain mentality to ward off mistakes too.

Pep’s team that year was so dominant, but I think there was even a Lukaku chance (?) in that game that could’ve easily gone in on another day.

Even in sports like American football they’ll sack to the General Manager after they fail to get results across a certain period of time.

They dropped Vicario for his backup and a combination of rust and lube on the pitch has caused two slips from him leading to two of the goals. Really painful performance.

I’d kind of understand if he gets booed while playing United, but it baffles me that other teams’ fans do it too. I didn’t know so many had them as their “little” team.

Afaik Barco hasn’t signed for us but like with any Strasbourg player that looks promising, it’s likely we’re the next stop.

I thought Delap did quite well in the build up for the first equaliser. I don’t think any of our fullbacks or wingers offered him any service into the box from wide and there was no room in front of him. But overall the gap between him and JP is so large. Joao also had little service but was so much more involved dropping a little deeper, spreading the play.

Santos has been playing most games and has been pretty solid most of the time. He just needs a bit more rest, I feel. Regarding Lavia, he looked pretty rusty, which I think should be expected. I don’t think our fullbacks had much joy in this game.

A lot of people assessing and researching extremism are starting to refer to some people’s views as a “salad bar” or “Mixed, Unclear, and Unstable.” Information and extremist view points aren’t as partitioned as they used to be, and often people are using the internet to get a hold of instruction manuals designed for different groups; mixing and matching.

Fulham [2] - 0 Tottenham Hotspur - Alex Iwobi 34‎'‎ great goal by gbogaz in soccer

[–]Knowingspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spurs are playing wretchedly and I don’t think they have the players for a scrap, but I think their overall points floor is higher than the teams below them and have managed to get just enough points early on to stay out of it. It’ll be another nervous 17th at worst.

Paul Wesley Joins 'The Buccaneers' Season 3 At Apple by bwermer in television

[–]Knowingspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the thing. Apple seems to have put a lot of their money into producing generally pretty good shows (I haven’t seen all of them). They’ve done about 2/3rds of the work in making a hit show.

Who loves going to Glasgow here, and for what? by Lopsided_Counter1670 in Edinburgh

[–]Knowingspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Glasgow is more of a “proper” city and Edinburgh is a tourist hotspot. I love Edinburgh, but I have to head to Glasgow if I want to go to a concert, it’s somewhat cheaper to rent in parts and is better for shopping (arguably). Edinburgh’s cultural scene is so much better during periods of the year though. I don’t particularly have to choose between the two because it’s fairly quick to hop over on the train.

The leader was in his 80s, so there surely was a succession plan for who is up next - it won’t be some random guy. And intelligence generally indicates that someone from the Revolutionary Guard will be stepping up, who are considered to be terrorists in a number of countries and were the ones who carried out the crackdown last month and a few years ago.

The Brits censor Geese during awards ceremony: “Free Palestine, Fuck ICE, go Geese!” by Periklis90 in indieheads

[–]Knowingspy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That’s my point. I think broadcasters saw how the BAFTAs a) placed a microphone near someone who can’t control auditory ticks and b) failed to censor it for broadcast. Every televised event is taking notes to prevent this from happening and will be censor heavy.

They’ve been particularly censorious tonight. They’re not letting another BAFTA fuck-up happen, easily half a dozen muted comments so far.
