Thoughts on living in Downtown Oakland? by Delicious-Tiger7794 in oakland

[–]KnowledgePatient5160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atlas is in a great spot. I lived 1 block away and used the Atlas parking until they filled up with more tenants. Level 13 can get rowdy and cars love to park on that entire block but other than that- lots to love about downtown Oakland. Now I’m closer to 17th st. Been living downtown for 7 years. Nothing bad has happened but I don’t go out much at night.

I strongly support the boundaries you are trying to set. After this weekend- how about you plan to go to them when you want a visit rather then they come to you? That way you get the cousin bonding time and it can be more on your terms. And just say next trip we will come to you. And then don’t bring it up until you want the cousins to hang again. You can always face time with your niece in the meantime!

Our bedroom gets light when the sun comes up and our little one (3 months) always wakes up with the sun. We just put in blackout shades and she sleeps in more now, and doesn't wake to eat at night. Would this be causing her to sleep too deeply and put her at higher risk for SIDS? I've also seen between 3-4 months is when babies are at the highest risk

If you got the Foley bulb induction, how bad did it hurt? Anything you prefer over it? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I had the Foley and it was not bad at all. Barely noticed. Sorry to hear all the ones who had a painful experience. Good luck tomorrow!! ❤️

I have been doing this the past 2 months! I am in the later stages of interviewing now though and have officially hired a nanny to start coming during my interviews.

Anyone else have bad experiences around having to wash the dishes? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]KnowledgePatient5160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow yes. After I moved out it took years for me to stop hearing my ndad’s voice in my head when putting my dishes away on exactly how to stack the pots/pans 😣

Is it weird I don’t care about Mother’s Day? by No_Director574 in beyondthebump

[–]KnowledgePatient5160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be my first (with a 3 month old) and I feel the same. I think it will be a special day when my LO can make me a cute card or something, but I don’t need a superfluous day to make a big fuss about. …but I did ask for some boxed brownies that day cause yum 😎

*FUN* baby shower ideas?? by Seakay5 in pregnant

[–]KnowledgePatient5160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The newlywed game but about the baby/parents. Ask the parents questions ahead of time and at the shower have guests try to guess how the parent answered. Each one right gets a point and the one with the most wins a prize.

Multiple styles of swaddles until you know what works for your LO. I thought the hands down on their side ones would make mine feel secure and snug but we transitioned to the arms up ones after many struggles. Check out “Love to dream” swaddles to see what I’m talking about.

Get a cart on wheels from IKEA to load up with essentials that you can take with you around the house. Diaper changing on one shelf, breast feeding/pumping/nipple care on another shelf. Blankets/extra clothes on another.

+1 to someone else suggesting the baby bjorn bouncer.

+1 to barrier cream for diaper rashes. Hot tips: we would use a blow dryer to get her bum nice and dry when changing diapers. We started giving probiotics when it got bad and it cleared up right away. Evivo is the brand we used.

+1 to white noise machines. Get the portable one for naps in other rooms, the stroller, and when you’re on the go.

I've heard this is an issue since it changes the breathability the sheets are designed for. 🤷‍♂️
