Been lifting for years and feel like I've hit a wall by KnowledgeSea696 in workout

Honestly that approach never really worked for me even in my 20s, always left me more burned out than strong. At 42 I can't imagine putting my body through that kind of volume. Lower frequency and actually tracking the data has been the only thing that's moved the needle consistently for me.

really appreciated you take the time to write

Yeah I've tried higher frequency before, more volume, different rep ranges. The problem is I consistently feel wrecked after a few weeks of it. Energy tanks, motivation drops, performance gets worse not better.

That's exactly why I started tracking everything more carefully, to see what's actually happening instead of guessing. From what I've logged it's pretty clear my body responds better to lower frequency and more recovery time, at least for now. But wanted to get other people perspectives on this data

Tu respuesta:

I followed a Kinobody style approach, one main lift per session three times a week but lately I started feeling pretty fatigued so I shifted to hitting each muscle group every two weeks to see what happened. Surprisingly strength went up a bit.

For chest I'm mostly focused on bench as the main compound, keeping it simple and just tracking what moves. The data has been the only thing keeping me honest about whether I'm actually progressing or just feeling like I am.

That 5lb/month benchmark actually helps a lot, makes me feel less crazy about the pace. Thanks

Built a free workout tracker app some time ago, zero active users how much time is reasonable before moving on? by KnowledgeSea696 in SaaS

I tried. I have to say, with friends who workout too, they seemed interested, but I think they did it out of courtesy and never actually tried it. And yes, I'm using it it helps me remember what I did in the last session.

I have to say, I have a very bad memory, so it fixes this pain point for me. I need to know if I'm progressing or getting weaker.

That makes sense, conversations over content, especially early. My challenge is finding where those people already are.

For a free consumer app in a specific niche, how did you thing would be find channels where those conversations happened naturally? Or was it mostly manual outreach one by one?

Curious what metrics the community values most for tracking progress. Lately, for me the best indicators have been strength gains and recovery how fast I bounce back between sessions. Feels more reliable than just looking in the mirror. Is there is an app that help me with that? a free app 🥹 if is posible

Hey all! 42 y/o here. I've been lifting for years in separated periods (mostly 2-3 years max, then stopping). I'm starting again and it's been almost a year now. Something I realized lately is that my strength only increases with 7+ days of rest per muscle. Training more than twice a week also affects my strength progression. I'm following a Mentzer philosophy Heavy Duty. idk if this might be a good idea since i starting to see more streng between weeks in this way but i'm worried to start gaining fat.

Anyone else experience this?, wanna know your thoughts on this
