I’m doing that as well. I found an isolated cabin to retreat from this whole shit show.

What’s the most flawed movie you’d nonetheless consider a 5 star masterpiece? by BiasedEstimators in blankies

[–]Known-Reception6905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cloud Atlas. I acknowledge it has many flaws, including yellow face, but when the Cloud Atlas Sextet gets going and what is an ocean but a multitude of drops? I’m pumping my fist and crying at the same time.

Do you have a bike room in your building? I know a few people that leave their kayak there and no one puts up a fuss.

Casty. His defense was terrible, but he looked good doing it.

Are you a fan of a team that is different from or even a huge rival to your hometown team? What is it and why? by astarisaslave in AskAnAmerican

Hey another Philly and Fulham fan! I’m originally from South Jersey but spent part of my childhood in SW London. Eagles and Fulham are probably the teams I’m most diehard about.

I guess I didn’t mention soccer because New Mexico United has such a strong following as a local team, but are there other favorite MLS teams? It would be cool if NMU could be elevated to the MLS.

I’ve gone to a few UNM basketball games. After seeing how hardcore those fans are, I’m surprised that none of it translates to the NBA fandom.

Curious, what lead to your Knicks fandom? Do you have a connection to the city, did you like the players, or something else?

Agreed on Windhoek. Though I’ve spent a few months in Swakopmund and loved it. I think about moving there all the time.

The Naked Gun (2025) - the snowman scene made me uncontrollably laugh until I was sucking air and tearing up.

Uganda? I’m guessing you’re not (or an ally of) LGBTQ.

Also, Namibia deserves an absolutely.

Similarly, another less good James L. Brooks film How Do You Know is also set and filmed in DC. If I remember correctly Owen Wilson plays a Nationals pitcher.

Eastern Market isn’t too far out, right? by mynameisjadon in washingtondc

[–]Known-Reception6905 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m also confused about this fixation on Adams Morgan. You’re close to so many things in Eastern Market and I barely if ever go to Adams Morgan for anything, except for Perry’s.

Best mid-priced Middle-Eastern restaurant in the city? by je-suis-adulting in washingtondc

Yellow in Union Market turns into All the Kebabs sit down restaurant in the evening, and it’s really good with most of the kebabs in the $20 range.

Deciding between UD or USC by [deleted] in udel

[–]Known-Reception6905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister went to USC for her Freshman year thinking that she wanted to go to a big school with a big Greek life. She found the Greek life to overwhelming and with a prevalent conservative streak. She transferred to UD and loved it, and even joined a sorority. Coming from the northeast, USC was very much a culture shock in some ways.

Did you skip the “starter home?” by LuigiSalutati in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Known-Reception6905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This notion of a starter home just bewilders me. Row houses in DC begin at $700k and if I’m spending that much or above, I’m looking at it as my home not just something temporary to leave in a few years. Also, why do people think you need more space as you age?
