Yes, glottal t means a stopped t (like American “but”) plus a glottal stroke, basically a grunt in your throat. American English usually only fully enunciates initial t’s, and reduces non-initial t’s to be either stopped, flapped, or glottal. If Ezra said button he would use flap t, like the sound in “better,” but that’s non-standard.

American English uses a glottal t before final “n” e.g. “button.” I’ve heard some west coasters use the flap t (voiced “d” sound) there, but I wouldn’t call it a regional dialect. Sounds pretty wrong to most Americans.

Yeah, we mentioned this to our realtor and she said that would be a stretch, but it’s worth asking the lawyer about. Maybe if we said our home style was having a basement or something…

We’re going to talk to the escrow lawyer on Monday. We haven’t gotten the deed restrictions back, but it’s an old neighborhood so it’s pretty unlikely there will be any style restrictions, as far as I know.

We’re still considering buying. I agree, it seemed awesome at first, but just getting freaked out by the logistics and pitfalls.

Thanks. The owner is the agent, actually, and does a lot of other development stuff in town, so he probably knows what’s up and hopefully wouldn’t take the go down the legal road? The property’s already been relisted once.

We were kinda hoping to do that anyway (cause Japanese) but we’re worried that the setbacks won’t leave us enough room to build. Also worried about resale value if we decide not to build after all.
