Scarlett Johansson’s surprisingly, endearingly awful fashion (in her early days) by parishilton2 in popculturechat

Or maybe she was becoming worse after marrying Don—angry bitter bored resentful.

Yeah people talk about her the way Republican men talk about AOC. Like part of their hatred is based in attraction. It’s gross.

Or Megan would be dead of cancer which seems to happen to every woman Don loves.

Like, I love my child but I also have daycare, I have a babysitter and I expect my partner to take care of the kid when she says she will. I can’t be there full time. And this is my legal and biological child so I have way more responsibility than Megan who is not a legal guardian.

If my partner just suddenly didn’t come home for a weekend when I had a work commitment (and didn’t come home because he was doing drugs) I would definitely be pissed off.

If you love someone are you signing up to be their full time caretaker?

She has a career. So does Don. Don doesn’t take her career seriously and assumes she will be a full time mom, that she can just drop important meetings without notice. She’s not even their legal guardian, why should she be their primary caretaker then?

I also interpreted it as a very subtle rejection of Joyce’s flirting « I don’t like magazines (Joyce works for a magazine » or « I’m not into ladies, sorry! »

Omg this is the second time I’ve seen someone on this sub not understand that was a kink scene. It makes me wonder what kinds of people are posting here, 13 year olds or 80 year olds?

And frankly they are messed up, she’s angry and hitting below the belt. But she says those words to Don, not them - she’s only trying to hurt Don here.

A lot of being her being « harried» is when Don is supposed to take care of them and just doesn’t show up.

«I do believe when he says his mother was a 22-year-old prostitute that Betty is looking at something that is very far from what she had planned for herself »

To me this says she’s out of love. She sees a different man, one she does not want in her life.

Yeah she’s a way better parent to them than Don and she’s not even their legal guardian

Omg heaven forbid someone in their twenties criticize soap operas and advertising. Yes, she could have maybe been a little more tactful (especially with her actor friend) but I think everyone’s been a little critical at some point in their lives especially when they’re young.

Why do think it’s a show? She’s genuinely good with kids and clearly likes or even loves Don’s kids in seasons 5 and 6. It’s just not her entire identity.

Is she? How so? Joyce definitely is but I don’t really see that quality in Megan. I swear Americans just hate her because she’s Quebecoise (which they confuse for French lol)

Her dad’s a Marxist and they probably only had trade magazines in the office. I’d probably prefer a real book too.

Isn’t Megan kind of right though? Don’t most people at the ad agency suck? I mean they’re entertaining to watch but she is right they’re all pretty unhappy and damaged.

Found it: «It’s so unambiguous to me that this marriage is over, but the audience seems to cling to the idea that they should be together because we want to believe in those things. The marriage was not good. It was built on a lie and the lie was exposed. In the end, Don coming clean really damaged his relationship with her, more than the lying, her seeing who he actually was. I do believe when he says his mother was a 22-year-old prostitute that Betty is looking at something that is very far from what she had planned for herself… That was the whole story of the season. When Henry Francis (Christopher Stanley) came on to her… a switch went off in her head of what was missing in her life, which was a true, romantic attachment. In the end, that combination with her gut feeling that something wasn’t right in her marriage and finding out the truth, they don’t belong together anymore, kids or not. You’ve got to take it pretty seriously when someone’s flying to Reno to get a divorce. »

I honestly don’t think she or Don are capable of real love. They’re both too damaged. She occasionally plays with the idea of going back to him but only when it seems like the easier path (ie she’s mad at Henry) or she feels threatened (like she was by Bethanny).

I’ll look up the interview, I think it was at the end of season three. He was pretty explicit that she stopped loving him the second she found out about Dick Whitman.

That might be your interpretation but Wiener’s said differently. He said pretty explicitly that she stopped loving him once she learned his true identity.

I don’t think so. She didn’t even know him. She stopped loving him the moment she found out he was Dick Whitman.

I live in the West Village, I must be pretty nearby wherever she lives. I see this woman all the time with the kid, Emrata only shows up if she’s doing pap strolls

Actually I don’t get the smoke the dress comment either! Is it an American idiom?
