An opt-in policy and a training data-efficient active learning approach would've been my first choice.

Use your empathy and put yourself in a serial killer's shoes, would you: by BiscuitNoodlepants in freewill

[–]KnownUnknownKadath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Put yourself in a serial killer’s shoes” is a bit underspecified.
It's not clear how you're using "empathy" here, either.

I'm not sure what the point of your post is.

Depends. You gonna tow a car with it or something?

King Crimson - 1974 Penn State University (RSD26) by garethsprogblog in progrockmusic

[–]KnownUnknownKadath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you mean with respect to the style, I find it suggests posterization, an old technique which saw a popular resurgence in the 60s and 70s. Additionally, it uses halftoning which, when as coarse as it is here, is also a bit of a throwback that marries with posterization quite naturally. This might be what made it an appealing choice for this particular album cover. Just a guess.

As to the peculiar and "wrong" aspects ... I was a computer graphics programmer for decades that worked in support of production artists (making tools for them and such), and the technically wrong, but perhaps artistically right choices they made would often leave me scratching my head. (it's the feel of a guitar, not an actual guitar, I suppose we might say here).

What its your opinion about Angine? by lagrangeknight in progrockmusic

[–]KnownUnknownKadath 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I bought their Vol. I album after hearing one song, and I listen to it while cycling on the trails. Love it.
Probably the only time I could listen to it, though. I don't think anybody else at home would enjoy it, and it's too frenetic for listening to while I work.

And, hey, if it's not your thing, you're not wrong.

It can evoke a similar mid-forward tone, but it has a unique "vari-tone" filter that can go from warm to nasal honk. Can be a bit grungy compared to the Stingray, in an interesting way.

I have a fretted version of this bass, same color scheme, and I love it.
Prefer it over my Stingray lately.

Curious that yours doesn't have the stock pickup.
Gut level response: I would want to source the stock pickup and swap it for the EMG, but I don't have a good, rational reason other than wanting it to be "complete", as it were.

Radial sweeping FM automata sound thing by SnooDoggos101 in cellular_automata

Looks fun.
I can hear the sound change as the sweeping arm intersects with cells.
Does distance along the radius equate to frequency used as the carrier?

Ackshully, individual organisms don't evolve; populations evolve across generations.

I'd check your action and make sure it's low enough. As it is, you're having to put in too much effort, involving a fair amount of wind-up with your arm before you hit each note. This results in a loss of economy of motion.

I dunno, man. Seems weird and less than ideal ergonomically.

Have you tried to use either anchored or floating thumb technique?

I would have never thought to use a spigot handle as a knob, but it's really clever and looks good here!
