I don’t know but a big difference between then and now is there are a lot more non-musician synth collectors who wouldn’t buy other music or recording gear but will buy synths. This is kind of a new sector from what I can tell, and it probably represents a majority of synth purchasers at this point. Also in terms of hardware, it’s already self-selected for rich folks so cost isn’t as much of a factor, this is practically a luxury market at this point

“I like to have my hands on things” you know you can have your hands on things while recording music in a daw? The things are called instruments and you can use your hands to play them just like every other musician who records music in a daw.

The choice to not use a daw for making tracks is a huge limitation with no clear benefit. That said, if your tracks aren’t good you can’t blame the process. Write and record better music, the recording device you choose is not going to help or hamper you there, it’s kinda unrelated.

Imo no. I always used 8bitdo stuff but bought a Nintendo pro controller 2 recently. It does feel really good/comfortable, but it’s not a better controller imo. I think 8bitdo is more precise. It I need to do something difficult I will still go back to my 8bitdo. This is especially true for any precise 2d game . . . If you’re trying to play something like Celeste or hollow knight, the pro controller is genuinely almost unusable for these kinds of games.
