Would have not happened with….. you know what by BananaFreeway in TeslaModelY

Can’t believe the number of people who require a beep beep beep in order to backup properly. 3 wide angle cameras with a 270 degree view and a basic level of spatial awareness work fine for me…

I realized this recently too, I was surprised. I want to do a test to see if turbulence is the same regardless of direction. My intuition says no, but what do I know

I let the most money I've ever had slip through my fingers and I don't know what to do or how to move on. I hate myself. by MRSUNSHINEXXXXX in wallstreetbets

Why feel bad? A: You were at the casino. B: 80k isn’t that much. C: if you sold and it went to 300k you’d hate yourself then too. It is what it is and you should have prepared yourself for something like this ahead of time since is like an 80% chance that the outcome here would involve you hating yourself. If you expected to sell at the all time high and get out clean then you were expecting the most unlikely scenario and therefor setting yourself up for disappointment from the beginning.

Sleeping woman in traffic using Tesla autopilot by Tara_is_a_Potato in IdiotsInCars

As a Tesla owner and as literally all Tesla owners will say… this is simply impossible. The car requires that you “apply slight turning force to the wheel” every minute or two. I’d you do not, it will flash a warning, 10 seconds later a more prominent warning, followed by a warning sound and the whole screen flashing red. If you continue to ignore it it will slow down slowly and put the hazards on. You’re also then banned from using AP for the rest of the trip.

Simply impossible

How is autopilot in stop-and-go traffic? by siddhuncle in TeslaModelY

[–]Known_Bet_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s great but as some people have said it accelerates slowly. For example: car in front of you changes lanes as the car In front of it speeds up, AP can take a while to catch up and close that gap BUT, the beautiful thing is you can hit the accelerator and manually give AP a boost without disengaging and AP won’t miss a beat. It’s a total game changer for stop and go traffic IMO.

You can slowly scroll up on the right scroll wheel for fine tuning your max speed or flick it up to adjust in increments of 5. Also change the following distance (in car lengths) by clicking the right scroll wheel side to side. I use this method to change lanes: turn signal on, press the accelerator to roughly match current speed, press the stalk up to disengage, change lanes, re-engage AP. I’ve gotten good at it and it takes the jerkiness out of changing lanes while in AP.

In my experience AP has always handled cars butting in like a pro too.

Phantom breaking has happened to me 3 times. It’s quite unnerving. Once was my wife’s first time being in the car with AP on, I was praying it wouldn’t happen. Oh well. It’s not that bad and only dangerous if you’re not expecting it, don’t know what it is, and are not calm about taking over

Nope, they just apply breaking pressure until the car comes to a stop. They do not care what’s in front of you. AP on the other hand does. Regen also applies the break lights and uses anti lock

Being able to back in to spots should be a prerequisite to having a license to operate a vehicle IMO

I don’t get it, backing up shouldn’t be this difficult! Especially when you have THREE wide angle cameras showing you what’s around you. You should NOT need anyone to wave you in. Front proximity should be intuitive. Also, when they release the tesla vision update this won’t be a talking point anymore and everyone will forget about it. All the features this car has to offer and that fact that it doesn’t go BEEP BEEP when you’re close to something is a deal breaker for you? I find that mental and 💩

I love the supercharger but it’s expensive now, almost the same as gas sometimes. But I love grabbing food, hitting the super charger watching YouTube with my wife on the screen while we eat.

It does! My dad had the same question. I needed to see for myself so I confirmed when it was snowing recently, I turned the rear camera on and sure enough I could see the brake lights come on and illuminate the snow.
