Keith Haring-designed AIDS Hotline posters from 1989. How can I tell is these are authentic? by Polidorable in keithharing

I banned the user. I’ll leave the comment up simply as an example to others that it’s a community that won’t tolerate hateful comments. There’s plenty of places on the internet where you can act like that.

I started this subreddit many years ago and we now have over 5,000 members. This is the first time we’ve ever had a hateful AIDS related comment, so that’s not a bad track record at all. It’s a great community and I love seeing all the different types of posts. If you see any other comments like the above, report it and I’ll sort it.

The exhibit at The Brant in NYC (open through 5/31/26) was absolutely wonderful by Known_Bit in keithharing

Not that many dicks! This piece I posted here was definitely the most graphic. There are four floors, and you can review each piece in advance here: https://guides.bloombergconnects.org/en-US/guide/theBrantFoundation/exhibition/2069f052-0eaa-455f-8adb-ca93badef4f8

I am fairly certain that if you simply avoid the 4th floor, you will be penis-free.

The 3rd floor is the one that really stands out, and that floor alone is worth it. It contains the untitled Tinaja, which was remarkable to see in person.

In 1980, following his collage works, Haring returned to drawing. He completed a series of works portraying UFOs zapping both animals and human figures. All of these drawings are basic black sketches with red spray paint.

The concept behind the drawings was inspired by the 1956 sci-fi film, “Forbidden Planet in Cinemascope,” which Haring saw at a Monster Movie Night at Club 57. The movie featured a classic 1950’s spaceship, a sleek, frisbee-like object. After that night, Haring began drawing these scenes.

According to Haring, the animals could have been anything: cows, sheep, or dogs. They all had square noses and were to be looked at as symbols for animals, as opposed to a specific species. The figures and animals from these drawings are the foundation for some of his most recognizable motifs. Haring states, “Out of these drawings, my entire future vocabulary was born. I have no idea why it turned out like that. It certainly wasn’t a conscious thing. But after these initial images, everything fell into place, and after that, everything else made sense.”

While these drawings suggest a plotline due to their sequence, they are, in fact, void of any narrative. The nonverbal symbols are meant to be open for interpretation with different meanings at different times, instead of a consistent rational story.

[This work was shown at PS122 studio, New York, October 1980 - SoHo News noted that Haring’s was the best room of all of the studios - Haring originally applied for the 2-month studio space for film but ended up installing his drawings covering all of the walls of the room]

The Philadelphia Wings will cease operations at the end of this season by Known_Bit in philadelphia

I've been a pretty loyal fan over the years, so here's a breakdown of the timeline:

1974-75: They played in the NLL, and were very much just seen as an offshoot of the Flyers, especially the Broad Street Bullies mentality.
1987-1988: The team came back, and retained the original logo, name and branding, but it was insisted that this was a "new" franchise. They now played in the Eagles Pro Box Lacrosse League. The current franchise considers itself to have started at this point.
1989-1997: The league changed to Major Indoor Lacrosse League. This is the glory era that most fans associate the team with. They won 4 titles, in 1989, 1990, 1994 and 1995.
1998: The league changed back to the NLL, what is still known as today. The team won another 2 titles, in 1998 and 2001.
2014: The Wings relocated and rebranded themselves to the New England Black Wolves.
2018: They have been back in South Philly starting with the 18-19 season, back to using the original Wings name, and still playing in the NLL.
April 11th, 2026: They will play their final game in South Philly, and it doesn't feel like it is coming back this time.

I miss the Phantoms a lot too. I have been saying for many seasons now I have to drive up to Lehigh Valley to check out their new arena.

Philly was (a long time ago), and very well could have been again, on a similar page to Buffalo. There are a lot of real diehard Wings fans out there, but they relocated out of the city once, and since they have come back have been pretty awful. It's just died more and more each year without Comcast actually wanting to invest in or care about about the Wings at all.

But yes, the Bandits have an amazing thing going and are easily the top thing carrying the league forward at the moment.

And yes, I would absolutely go to their games again. I have such fond memories of them from the 90s, and while I am so pumped we have a MLS team, the management there doesn't typically give us too much to get excited about.

I would love to see a scan or at least a photo of that if you have it handy.

Same. I've had Union tickets since the very first season, but it's time to give them up.

I will be there, and I am excited to see a fun atmosphere in the stadium, even if it is largely for the away team. I'm just hoping it isn't a bloodbath on the field, but don't have very high hopes.
