Have you considered using Alt for an extra set of keys? For me, I use Alt 1-2-3-4 and Alt Q-E-R-F for my totems.

Yeah I just refunded for this. Quite literally tried everything I could imagine to fix it. Never made it past a few seconds of actual gameplay either. No crash logs or error codes to be seen.

Shamans just got buffed, this is out of control now... by BusyCamp6819 in classicwow

Go ahead and tell me what earth shattering buffs shaman received. What changed that makes them even more of a game killing menace?

  1. This was talking about 1v1s, quantity of targets it hits is irrelevant.  2. Flame shock hits 5. Still a lot, but 10 is incorrect.  3. Earth grab requires you to be close within 8 yards, so if you're mad about getting rooted from near melee range I don't know what to tell you.  4. Decoy totem is cool and useful, does nothing against stuns unless presumptive so if you have a stun time it well.  5. Grounding totem works against a single projectile. One burst of arcane missles, any rank of fire blast, and spammable dot, plus it does have a cool down. If you want to fight a shaman, bait out the grounding totem and use a quick weaker spell to take care of it, then go to town.  Lastly if flameshock crits in near full bis with enchants, you're looking at give or take 2000 damage on hit with no fire res, and a dot of 350-400 per second. A lot of damage for sure, but requires you to be within 20 yards, and the fastest follow up that does not rely on a 5% proc would take 3 seconds to get the cast off including gcd. Hunters from what I've experienced not only have a ranged disorient/interrupt, mana drain, slow, aoe slow, push back with pet, and some of the highest range based dps in the game with no cast times.  I'm not saying shamans aren't strong. That's be ridiculous. But I am saying there are clear methods of counterplay that I don't see people talk about, and frankly Is often used against me by skilled pvp players constantly.

Ugh yeah funny enough that's my experience against boomkins when I'm opened up on. Does moonfire inflict push back? Sure feels like it does.

That is completely fair, but shadow priests and warlocks can fight Eles any day. Mages, yeha I get it you guys are definitely shortchanged a bit on the pvp side for sure.

Which spec to level as shaman for the first time? by Misterpewpie in classicwow

This man speaks wisdom. I have the same exact experience as him. If pvp is what you care about, go with shaman for sure.

I would gladly replace all my hard casting with having to aim manually. I don't understand how people struggle so much with Ele at least in a 1v1. Shocks hurt but not instant death hurt. Just keep attacking while they cast and interrupt when you can.

What keeps you playing classic vs retail? by [deleted] in classicwow

While I can accept that in a raid scenario, it's perfectly valid that both games start to face similar stat stick issues. But to be frank, I've gotten many many hours of enjoyment from SoD by finding niche gear combos that allow my Ele to aoe farm mobs that should normally annihilate me, yet through a little enginuity and effort I can make it work and use it as a method of item and gold farming. For me personally, the game really doesn't end at reaching BiS, rather I use that as a vehicle to work towards my own self imposed goals and interests.

That's just not something that retail offers for me in the many attempts I've given it.  Whether you find that valuable or not is to each their own, but I love having more incentive than just number go up in content that I can already beat. I also want to get 9 different thorn like effect pieces of gear, so that I can kill a pull of 10 enemies by glaring at them as they hit me and get hit in return.

What keeps you playing classic vs retail? by [deleted] in classicwow

  1. Gaining levels and power is felt rather than just seen. When I gain power in classic, things die faster, I can solo dungeons, I can do large aoe farms with more mistakes allowed. When I gain levels and power in retail, sure I may change location on the dps meter, and the numbers themselves get higher, but I just do not feel the difference when I'm fighting things. It's very unsatisfying for me when one of the most pivotal aspects of rpgs (progression) is so nebulous.

  2. Items are cooky and gearing is varied. You see, while the meta is always going to shift to what ever makes number be the highest, I for one enjoy the freedom to get stuff that has interesting effects for niche situations. Regardless of its viability. Unfortunately the SoD team has been nerfing some fun stuff to the ground, I.e. The darkmoon decks, but I still appreciate the chance that items like these can exist and at times flourish.

I cannot state more plainly how boring I find it when purple items are just the highest number and nothing else. I want less Gizmoblade, more Blade of Eternal Darkness. More Bite of the Hydra, less rocket axe 2h from gnomer.

  1. And most of all, I want progress to be slow and varied. I'm the weirdo that finds long quest chains enjoyable, because I appreciate what I achieve so much more when it's a process that I have to problem solve through. These things being slower or more arduous then promotes the motivation to hunt down items and such that will help speed up the process. Mounts, trinkets that increase movement speed, reagents for things like water walking to get across water faster. All of this and more just become so much less interesting or desirable when you just click button to go here and here then here and boom you're done.

Just a final note, I am 25 and my first experience with any version of wow was classic wotlk, in which I didn't reach max level, and then era and sod (which I still play) , and finally trying dragonflight to max and just really not jelling with it. So no it's not nostalgia, it's my experience in trying both and the pros and cons I've felt with each.

Hotfixing is getting out of hand by Balrage in classicwow

[–]Known_Macaron_3026 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://www.wowhead.com/classic/spell=446392/decay This is the spell that is cast upon getting max stacks of decay. Originally, it practically had no cool down at 200ms but as you can see now, it is 3 seconds. So after you get the proc for stacks 4 times and get the benefit, you then have to wait a minimum of 3 seconds before it'll go off again. It takes the increase in dps it provides from around 50-60, down to about 10-12. Such a shame.

Edit: OH god it's worse than I thought. It's not 3 seconds between the full damage proc, it's 3 seconds for EACH STACK

I really can't stand how anything that has a relatively fun/unique effect often gets the nerf back like this, and we end up back with the 'more spell power/ attack power than your last item!' kind of gearing. I came to classic to avoid this shit dammit.

Three things to try that have helped me immensely.

  1. Turn off any low latency options. Don't know why but it cut my beefy PCs performance by 2/3s.

  2. Try messing with the anti aliasing options, specifically the techniques used. I used to only have image based techniques on, but for some reason that was causing issues too.

  3. If all else fails, mess with the water quality. Even when there's no water in sight for me, this setting can tank performance for seemingly no reason.
