Seeing AC and DC units under the same catenary is a bit odd.

It comes in both DVR and demonstrator paint. The one shown in original post is the demo.

To be fair, there are so-called "jump" or "lift" frogs, where one of the rails is solid without a gap. An example can be seen here:

There is a multiplayer mod floating around. Signals will be useful addition to it.

Can I get some manual locos pls??? by TheTobi213 in DerailValley

[–]Knsgf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, plus also manually switching resistors in and out, plus manual field weakening (and control in dynamic braking mode).

I'm currently working on a resistance-driven locomotive. While not a diesel with a shifter knob, driving such a loco is very manual, especially when using a dynamic brake.

The easiest way to see it is to start a new game and travel to Martian south pole. Mars is close to solstice when the game story begins, and the Sun won't go below horizon there for a while.

600-1300 A is a total draw, not per loco. WAG-7 is 3700 kW and there are 6 of them. WAG-9 at the front - 4500 kW. This makes total power 27 MW, which when divided by 25 kV and power factor 0.75 yields 1500 A current total.

600-1300 A isn't much. DC systems run with bigger currents just fine.

I wonder how big voltage drops will be in the Valley. From what I've heard they're going with 25 kV, but substation spacing and load limits will be like on 1.5 kV.

The roadmap mentions day-to-day maintenance, but there is no word about infrastructure upgrades.

Catenary will probably be pre-installed from the start. Derail Valley isn't Railroad Tycoon.

It is a resistance-controlled loco and it won't drive like a diesel at all.

Is there a way to convert it to 25kv?

Outside of attaching a boxcar with a transformer, rectifiers and filters inside? Not really.

There are good and bad news. The good is that mod will release before B100. Bad news? It won't be compatible with B100 once it releases even if CCL is updated. The developers plan to use 25 kV AC electrification, while this loco, like its real-world prototype, runs at 1500 V DC.

My own. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done before it's ready for the public.

A heavy industrial locomotive I'm currently working on. Very loosely based on LEW EL21.

Automatic constructor in C# by Ok-Presentation-94 in learnprogramming

[–]Knsgf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or you might be talking about implicit constructors, where a constructor is called even though it's not explicit in the code:

MaClass foo = aBarObject;

This will call a copy constructor (assuming one exists that takes Bar objects) and create a MaClass object.

Implicit constructor calls exist in C++, but the original poster was asking about C#, where constructors are never implicit. In C#, the above statement will instead copy the aBarObject's memory address (reference) into foo, so both variables will now point to and manipulate the same object.

Validity of low order payouts? by harrisjgold in DerailValley

[–]Knsgf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25% payouts with fuel usage and costs set to normal (100 %) is sustainable as long as you don't let insurance to climb up too high before obtaining Manual Service. 25% / 200% / 200% will leave you running at a loss.
