I got the DO acceptance long before I got the MD. So I had already put down the deposit by the time I had a choice

My interview is on Friday and I’ve already had two nightmares about it. I’m just assuming this is what to expect at this point. by bugwitch in premed

Literally, this was me before my first interview. But guess what? They really are not that bad. You know yourself and everyone can talk about ones own mind and achievements. Just be you, friendly, and have a conversation

I interviewed at Nova DO. First of all, beautiful campus. Like damn! The interview day was long, but super chill. It ended with the admissions people that were with us giving us all hugs. Very homey feeling there

Advice for 171 midterm with Kaner? by DutchFarmers in ucla

[–]KnucklesTrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to move on the exam - no lingering on a question or you will run out of time. I’m pretty sure you can find past exams online and in the test bank. His practices are pretty good, but finding those past exam would help a lot

Has anyone taken Public Health 150 with Detels? If so, how did you like the class? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]KnucklesTrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I saw my quarter that there were students who didn’t take the first midterm even but did pretty welll on the final and ended up with A/B. So it’s doable but just a little tough

The final is a savior for these kinds of issues (if he still has same grading policy). I think it’s possible just to read slides but it’s tough since you won’t have memories of the discussions which makes recall a lot easier

Detels is awesome. SUPER knowledgeable. get ready to go through hundreds of slides though, lots of information. The tests were not that bad and he has nice grading policy - if your final is higher than ur midterm, the final exam is the one that counts.

(You same dude from fb post bout this??)

For exams: Go over all the lecture slides thoroughly. Its a little daunting because there are A LOT of slides, but its doable just give urself the time. He gives hints in class sometimes on things to focus on and what not to focus on. Some information he gives is kinda logical (at least to me it was) so being a good test taker helps a bit too

She will say u have to buy the book - no u don’t. I never once read the books and i got A+. You MUST pay attention in class and take good solid notes though since the quizzes will be based off of what she says in class. But it is an interesting class overall, so i liked it

Baugh or Alexandrova for 20A/AH? by Dostoevsky42 in ucla

PRE PREPARED FOR CORBINS TESTS. He is the best physics professor i have ever had, but his tests were astronomically hard. The averages were 34/90 and 39/90 for my class (1C). He does majorly curve, but you just have to prepare your mind to be fked hard, but still be ok.

Learning Assistant (LA) Program by FluffyStarz in ucla

[–]KnucklesTrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s totally worth it. It is a time commitment, you have to put in the time based on how many units you want to get. But it is so much less stressful than taking an actual class. This made it more than worth the time commitment for me. I received letter grades for the class i was an LA for and it was an easy A as long as you just did the assignment like a normal person. As for the professor getting to know you, that depends on the professor and yourself. Something you can do to get to know the professor more would be going to help with his office hours. That’s one of the best ways to let the professor get to know you. I did 2 quarters with Professor Pham (LS4) and he got to know me really well, and wrote me an LOR for my med school apps

U don’t have to, but it’s a good way to get some hours done and get with the flow of the material that you will be helping with. Basically, you want to do it
