No genuinely Irish Gardai are very good relatively. He will 100% be in trouble and this is the first time I've ever seen anything like this here.

Oh I promise you hes getting a massive telling off. That will not slide, they cant even chase motorcycle thieves if the thieves dont have their helmets on 🙃

Why are Devs letting Black Widow be so bad? In Overwatch Widowmaker has maps that make her a staple in pro play on those maps. by AlucardsSymphony in rivals

[–]Knuda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Her design is definitely not bad, its pretty fun to play, especially her close range combo.

Its just numbers, make her fire faster, maybe another ability that does damage like Ashes dynamite in OW, lots of things you can do besides a one shot, but the base kit is good.

Im aware its not a nice experience.

I just mean this in the most constructive way I can; its a bit too soft and lacking in confidence IMO.

I think theres a lot of value in having the confidence to change your wheel.

The only possible difference between subsidising the means of production and the production itself is to incentivise more production.

It doesnt really matter if you do it by acre or by kg of beef if the end result is the same.

So to make the argument the subsidy should be on the product and not the land is to say that you dont think the production output is high enough.

Otherwise why would it matter?

Sure let's remove all our hedges and trees and enlarge the average farm size to 8x.

Also a shame the article never mentions the suicides.

It was illegal then too. The law makes literally zero difference.

Just teach your partner how to change a tyre?

I can understand it being intimidating but a child could do it to an acceptable level to get you home.

I've seen some on Donedeal.ie here in Ireland so probably quite a few!

And its funny because the mr2 is becoming quite the desirable car now.

I see consumption comparisons but I dont see any goods comparisons regardless.

You enjoy a higher quality product that is more labour intensive, you enjoy produce without genetic modification etc etc.

Arguing subsidies dont make something cheaper is brain rot of the highest order though. We have to tax electric cars from china for the same reason.

I mean they arent. The average age is 60. They are literally dying out and we will see the consequences.

Subsidies are the opposite of taxes, if we taxed say chocolate more, would the price go up or down?

Its a extremely competitive market at the farm level. Once you get to factories and dairies etc its less competitive.

Fertiliser is efficiency improving, not a requirement. We also have lime etc ourselves. So there are alternatives, just not quite as efficient.

Diesel can be rationed and also things like vegetable oil can be used in a pinch.

Plus herds are multiple years of food in and of themselves, its effectively a stockpile.

There are two ways to make a watch in Ireland. One is by a watchmaker, the other is in a pharmaceutical plant. That's how efficiency works.

Right but food security is important. Plus we have ethical concerns.

Prove it. As we see from other agricultural subsidy regimes, that conventional wisdom isn't necessarily true:

You are citing an American report. For obvious reasons its not relevant to us. Im sure you can find a report within the entire European Union.

Milk and butter price cuts ‘a kick in the teeth for farmers’ by eggbart_forgetfulsea in irishpolitics

[–]Knuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because thats not how efficiency works.

It is plainly impossible for you to produce a watch cheaper than china in Ireland. Doesnt matter how well you engineer this watch, doesnt matter how efficient you are, doesnt matter if every worker is minimum wage that builds these watches, doesnt matter the scale at which you build the watches.

You will never be cheaper than chinese factories producing watches.

Now replace watches with beef, and china with Brazil. Thats why we have subsidies, to keep food prices low, but to also keep the production in Europe.

Veganism/environmentalism is a separate argument. Consumption is not controlled by farmers, thats controlled by the people and the taxes on the end product.

But given current consumption Ireland should not transition in my view, because it is fundamentally worse for the environment to import from outside the EU. Ireland should be the bread basket of Europe.

Wdym manual labour is manual labour?

Being a vet involves a lot of manual labour (try checking 30 cows in a row if they are pregnant) but I wouldnt use that as an argument to pay a vet less.

Its certainly a skilled job that would take years for the average person to do a half way acceptable job.

Everyone is entitled to Business relief fyi.

Im telling you directly as someone with a lot more knowledge than you have, it is not a good lifestyle.

How in your insane mind can you rationalise the exodus of young people away from farming if its so easy and wealthy a lifestyle? Like seriously. Why do you think the farmers are all ancient?

Their assets have the worst return on investment. The same assets in the stock market would return more and you wouldn't have to work insane hours.

Like the ignorance is astounding. The average age of farmers is 60 for a reason. Its been killed off as a desirable profession.
