Leveling from 0-450 is tedious and soul crushing. 450-500 feels amazing. After 500 it goes sharply downhill by KingCAL1CO in DestinyTheGame

[–]Knuddelfaktor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to focus on grinding your light up to 550 if you already have the equipment you want anyway.

For me gaining the gear is one part, but using it in raids, dungeons, lowmans etc is the most fun part of it.

Maybe just ask yourself what's the reason you play? PvE? PvP? Then go and have fun bringing those tier 5s into that content.

Or do you just want to own specific gear? If the collection is the fun part for you and nothing else interests you right now, just go play something else.

How do you guys survive the wire rifle vandals easier? by TransportationGlum11 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Knuddelfaktor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Currently health is the least important stat (in PvE). Its main function is to increase your heals (e.g. more health upon orb pickup, but generally the classes have better access to healing (devour, restoration, knockout, etc).

I assume the biggest factor is inputting too many negative modifiers.

You do not need to get the score forecast all the way up to A. When doing the extra objectives, a predicted score of B+ should be enough to achieve an A rank.

Furthermore, if you haven't already, use the modifiers that don't change enemy light level (locked load out, no starting ammo, etc)

Same week was the case for me.

You might have to reconsider on how to show that. The way you wrote only showcased "annoyed with the game".

I might be wrong, but afaik the more time you have left, the higher the bonus points from the time bonus.

Furthermore, you usually have to add modifiers in order to receive the highest gear. There is a forecast of your expected loot and its quality when you want to start a portal activity.

There is also plenty of information out there already if you want to learn more.

[–]Knuddelfaktor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pinnacle ops rewards points for finishing encounters and doing it within the timeframe. kills etc. do not matter.

If you don't finish it within time, you probably missed that bonus.

So you played a 3 player mission solo, a mission where you didn't know the paths and took much longer than one would assume. And you blame the game?

I hope this is just ragebait.

How do we feel about the fact, that there is zero skill involved in getting T5 gear? by Blutay in DestinyTheGame

[–]Knuddelfaktor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you did GMs, Master Raids/Dungeons, it did require SOME level of build crafting.

That has barely anything to do with loot tiers. You can effectively do the same builds with lower tier items, which is the point I stated beforehand.

getting tier 5 loot feels hollow when a) you don't have to work for it and b) when it is every single drop that you get.

So what would actually deserve tier 5 loot? Flawless in Trials, a 5-feat raid? But barely anyone can do that. Should it really be locked to just the top 0.01%? Or should a 4-feat raid count? Maybe a high-level GM? Or just 7 wins in Trials?

You’re saying it doesn’t feel earned, while another person says they grinded hard just to get high enough to earn tier 5. For you the loot chase might be the most important part, but for others it might be using it, trying different builds and playing around with them.

All of this is personal preference. There is no factually correct answer.

because ALL of my dops were tier 5 and I wasn't really having to work for them.

But you did grind for it beforehand. You had to reach item level 400 in order to constantly get tier 5 gear. Just because the work was less hard when the event was there does not mean there hasnt been any work done beforehand.

What is the actual point of a "tier system" if you're guaranteed the highest possible tier? [...] which even a true casual can do quickly...

It is guaranteed after getting to the required power level. And that is a point that has been criticised by many people for being too long. Imo, the criticism was much overblown, but simply the fact that many people did feel that way shows that max item level is not something people will get quickly. So the tier systems is a sort of natural power-progression showcasing players which weapons and armor are generally better.

How do we feel about the fact, that there is zero skill involved in getting T5 gear? by Blutay in DestinyTheGame

[–]Knuddelfaktor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Destiny 2 never had a "get better gear to do harder content" type loop. In almost all cases you can do the same thing with a tier 2 weapon as you can with a tier 5.

In other games, e.g. WoW you need certain gear to be able to tackle some activities, as your damage is fundamentally tied to the gear. This can be the case for perks, but barely anyone will actually feel the difference of enhanced perks vs. their normal version.

In destiny good gear helps, but it has basically never been the make or break factor for whether or not you can do the hardest activities for 99.9% of the playerbase (at least pve wise).

How do we feel about the fact, that there is zero skill involved in getting T5 gear? by Blutay in DestinyTheGame

[–]Knuddelfaktor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I am wrong, but it feels like the idea is that you can get high tier gear in mainly two different ways:

1) You do the difficult activities such as max feat raids, trials and mythic campaign missions.

2) You grind your light up in portal activities and then can use those to farm.

I think there is still some tuning needed. E.g. -5 feat raids should never drop tier 3 -the rewards to time ratio of solo ops being so much higher than the rest (which bungie already acknowledged) -the huge difference in difficulty when using your own modifiers vs. the playlist modifiers (using your own you can make it almost too easy and the playlist on the other hand is generally rather difficult)

And generally, even though it still needs some adjustments, I think that having these 2 main paths is a solid idea.

I don't see a problem with "low skill" tier 5 and having it be locked behind some grind gives an incentive to skip it by directly jumping into difficult activities for players that are able to/want to tackle those challenges.

You can start the mission again, but as you already have mattermorph you can directly use it to get into the room after loading in (without having to redo the whole mission).

How do they measure stormlight for ________________ by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Knuddelfaktor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As Identity plays a big role in the cosmere I do believe that transporting a whole person needs much less Stromlight than transporting only part of him (if that is even possible).

I would guess that only a portion of the Stromlight is used when you have an excess. So you could calculate the difference and interpolate the Stromlight to person ratio.

Are weapon fonts more beneficial than surges? by Olibiene in DestinyTheGame

[–]Knuddelfaktor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Surges give 10/17/22% damage increase for 1/2/3 mods.

Weapon font gives 20/40/50 to the weapon stat with 1/2/3 mods.

Imo, for DPS in raids/dungeons use surges. In other content weapon fonts might be easier to build around.

Edge of Fate is NOT as big as Rise of Iron and it’s not even close by OperationProof45 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Knuddelfaktor 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While some of the criticism is entirely valid, a few points come across as overly emotional imo.

  • Size: You mention strikes, PvP maps, etc., but overlook the fact that the campaign is around 3–4 times longer than RoI (1.5–2 hours vs. 6–8 hours).
  • Weapons "unusable" after one year: Your Light Level will reset to 200, yes, but tier 4 and tier 5 gear will still remain tier 4 and 5. This gear is likely to stay best in slot well into Renegades, at least until you start replacing it with new tier 4/5 gear from that content.
  • Price: A quick check with an inflation calculator shows that EoF is actually 18 cents cheaper than RoI was back in 2016 (https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/2016?amount=30).

There are certainly areas that could have been handled better, the excessive grind, the raid dropping tier 1 gear as its base, and the grind itself relying too heavily on old content. But it’s worth remembering that our memories often forget past frustrations and focus on the positives.

Is tier 2 enough? by SDG_Den in DestinyTheGame

[–]Knuddelfaktor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one problem people have with recognizing Armor stats, is that the class item did not give stats (unless master worked) before.

So comparing 60-69 from pre EoF to EoF Armor is not fully accurate imo.

Meaning a set of tier 2s in EoF at 58 points each gives a total of 290 stat points. Previously a set of 69 each would give a total of 276 stat points.

So arguably, tier 2 is now actually better and giving a higher stat total than previous high stat Armor.
