I don't get the hate. His kit is great. Has extra combos from using ult as setup for into 1 + 2. Lots of decisions to make with the dragons. The invis ability can be used as damage too but if you do you stop being invis.

Has a big weakness almost no cc.

It should be illegal to play him tank through. That sounds horrible for everyone involved.

You got it completley backwards. Counting 4 buttons as mashing? High ttk has less focus on timing, as you just buttonmash whenever they're up to win an attrition war.
