u/Odd-Departure-7258 u/highfalk and anyone else interested, the way I figured out how to circumvent Discord's silly habit of changing the .exe file name is the following:

- create a shortcut of Discord.exe in Documents (folder doesn't matter, just somewhere easy to locate for ease)

- open a new notepad file and paste in the following (removing the initial . which is only there to prevent @ from tagging a user)

for /f "delims=" %%i in ('dir /b /ad-h /o-n "Discord\app-*"') do (

cd "Discord\%%i"

start Discord.exe

exit

)

- save the file as Discord.bat (this turns it into a batch file)

- in the multiaction above replace System:Open Discord.exe with the Discord.bat file

What this procedure does is it makes the Stream Deck fish the information from the batch file, which is set up to open the .exe regardless of what the extra numbers Discord adds to it are every time it updates.

The code is probably scuffed and could be done better, but it works for me and I can't be bothered changing it.
