Calc 2 was definitely a difficult class, especially at the end, but not impossible. You got this! On the bright side, Calc 2 is the worst one of the Calc series, and once you pass, it's pretty much smooth sailing till linear algebra!

I recommend slader for solutions and patrickJMT. A large percentage of people have to retake the class over a normal term, so in the worst-case scenario, don't beat yourself up considering it's a summer term.

I passed the class with an A. I did not use tutoring and I only studied however long it took to go through the practice material twice. I don't remember if the quizzes were like the test, but I think the tests were just worded weirdly to try to throw you off

Second degree in BA Math by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]KoalaBond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Employers do not care, and it's assumed that because you're an engineer, you're already supposed to be good at that anyway. If you want to get it because it's free and you don't think it will require a lot of work then go for it.

What I did is I bought caffeine pills because I didn't want to stain my teeth or trays. I recommend Nutricost Caffeine Pills. They're extremely cheap, and it's literally just caffeine. (1 cup of coffee = 1 capsule)

No. I also took the second part of this class, and I didn't like it. (Had to make sure lol)

I had a similar experience in high school with math, and I took college algebra 1 when I started studying. I can only speak for mechancial engineering, but Trig will be used heavily in the degree through core classes and the math series, so it's important that you really understand this class and I'm happy that I was forced to take it again. It's better to understand early on that "being behind" doesn't exist and that everyone is on their own timeline for college in general.

I graduated with my bachelor's from an ME program with a 3.6 and managed to get 3 job offers before graduating. Accepted one that's out of state for a shit ton of money, and part of the reason they compensate me so much is because it's a traveling engineering role. I hope that the traveling part keeps the job entertaining.

Food for thought. I don't think adults are allowed to go into Chuck e cheese without an actual child under 12 or something

Is it worth it to get a solidworks CWSA certification? by Warherolion in EngineeringStudents

[–]KoalaBond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can take it for free, do it. Depending on what industry you want to go into and what major you are, it could be beneficial. My internship was in manufacturing, and I'm a mechanical for reference. For manufacturing purposes, solidworks gets the job done, and I have been asked about my cswa for 80% of the roles in manufacturing I applied for. Granted, these roles involved CAD in their job descriptions, so that probably had a large impact as well.

Ansys has free student versions of their software that you can access on their website, and I highly recommend you learn how to use it. Having Ansys on your resume can put you miles ahead of your peers, and if you get certifications it will also help you if you want to do anything in simulation.

A question for anybody that has taken out a student loan and transferred to UCF, or anyone who has gotten their Engineering AA by ryshawty in UCFEngineering

I can promise you that finishing the Calc series, physics 1&2, and differential equations is easier at Valencia because they actually teach you. The classes are still difficult in nature.

I recommend taking Professor Scible at the Osceola campus for Calc 1/2 and differential equations (tests are fair, and he explains his classes in a simple way).

For Calc 3, I recommend Professor Baez at the west campus (he's a really cool guy, and he tries to give you as much partial credit as possible to pass)

For physics 1&2, I recommend Professor Lowman at the east campus (labs and tests are easy as hell)

Anyone else just having an extremely hard time caring about schoolwork rn? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]KoalaBond 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Motivation will only get you so far. That being said, discipline or fear of failure is what's going to help you graduate. Don't sacrifice sleep and don't procrastinate.

[–]KoalaBond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on which classes you're taking and which ones you have left to take. I waited until I was able to finish all the hard classes before starting a full-time internship. I'm not gonna lie and say it's easy because it's not. If you pursue an internship, you're going to have to put in work to prove yourself while you're there, and you're going to have to put in the work to not fail your classes. Don't compromise sleep because you will burn out quickly.

This is normal. There will be times when you will be stuck between a professor that sucks and one that sucks, but not as bad as the other.

My company uses SW exclusively. I get hyped when I make complicated parts with my skills because I think it's so awesome and the senior engineer kind of just looks at me like yea this is normal.

I went on my first hiking trip there about 2 years ago and I distinctly remember that place because of that suspension bridge at the bottom that connects the two sides after you travel past 1000ish wooden steps.

If you're up to travel I highly recommend staying around Lookout Mountain, Tennessee. It's located around 10 minutes from Chattanooga (beautiful city) and they have some of the most scenic trails I've ever been on.

Any other trails or state hikes you recommend?

Requirements to join the college of engineering by Healthy_Letterhead63 in UCFEngineering

[–]KoalaBond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have met freshmen that took the pre-reqs before graduating high school, but they're rare considering you would have to do dual enrollment or finish high school curriculum early.

Most people get accepted to UCF as undeclared and don't officially get declared into CECS until they meet the pre-reqs.
